How many holes are in a typical, unbroken straw?

Two holes, but one vortex. If you covered up a hole in it, the other hole would still exist. But if you filled the straw would glue, both holes would be blocked off. The vortex isn't the hole; the holes are the openings.
I think you’re misusing the term “vortex”.
Damn. I think I am using the wrong word. There's a mathematic word that that is supposed to mean. Bu for the sake of simplicity, let's just call it a "tunnel." (This is why GAG should let you edit comments.)
"Two holes, but one tunnel. If you covered up a hole in it, the other hole would still exist. But if you filled the straw would glue, both holes would be blocked off. The tunnel isn't the hole; the holes are the openings. For example, an open grave is one hole and one narrow tunnel."
Haha! I’m pretty sure i understand what you’re trying to say.
Oh I remember when this question was trending. I'm gonna say one. A hole in a sheet of paper has a length and a hole in a straw has a length. Just different distances. But it's still the same hole.

Since it's a tube by design there are no holes in a straw, just a single space in the centre
You don’t consider that to be a hole? Ell oh ell!
It's one long hole.
One because it’s all the same hole.
Two.
two holes
