Help my chicken is dieing?

My buddy owns several chickens for years.
I emailed him your question... This is what he wrote:

We've never experienced anything like that. Usually when a hen starts acting lethargic, in a short while they turn up croaked, lying in the coop. In fact, that's what I found last night with the last hen that was from our original batch of chicks (June 2011) and the sole survivor of the Great Massacre. She had seemed sluggish of late, so I wasn't surprised to find her that way. That's generally what has happened when a chicken, for whatever reason, is about to give it up. The hens (and rooster) in our first batch started dropping off at about five YO, so 10 years is a long time. She hadn't been laying for a long time.
Oh, we did have one that developed a cancer on her throat 2 or 3 years ago. The other hens were pecking at her; I guess they can tell when one of them is ill. Jane took her to the vet, who offed her, since Jane wasn't about to get out the hatchet or something. That could be the problem with the one above, but it could also be a bunch of other things.

Sorry that we could not be of more help.
Let's hope your hen makes a recovery!

How is your chicken doing? I have been very concerned too!
She passed away the very next morning we think she had botulism
Do you ever let her go outside in the sun for a while? I have to wonder if that box is doing some of this. If you've ever been inside a box, you'll notice a bit of a smell. I don't know if that's good or bad to breathe all the time but, that MIGHT be it. Have you tried building a coop?
You honestly think she lives in this box ? She lives with 17 other hens in a big Yard and coop the coop doesn't even get locked up except bad weather conditions or dark
I have no clue! I'm just going by what litttle info I've got.

If you lived in Michigan, Dr. Jan Pol would come to your house and treat her, she could have a neurological illness going on with her, I know I had a chicken that was my sisters and it was dying and I came home from school age 11 and cried my eyes out it was sad
and I buried in the backyard and I'm sorry for all the evil people on this question, they
will answer to God.. You have all my Blessings 👼🙏 (( Hugs )) :(
Thanks. Even if I was willing to eat her it would be a bad idea since we don't know what is wrong with her. but I would never eat Rona
@Asker No, she's a pet and I feel bad for her, and I'm the kind of guy who is sensitive
and it does not take much for me to cry , I think I will stop eating chicken this is sad
She is one of my laying hens and I'm fairly close to them they sit in my lap all the time
@Asker Hope she makes it I feel bad for her
She passed away yesterday
@Asker I'm so sorry for your loss aww my heart hurts for you sorry I am sensitive
I don't mind. And she will be missed I know a lot of people judged me for trying to save her life so hard
@Asker Well, I believe she will cross over the rainbow bridge, My pets mean the world to me I miss my Cockerspaniel, and for the longest time, I smelled Heaven's doggie odor and I know she didn't want to leave me and her soul was here in my new house for the longest time and I'm sorry for Rona :( I'm sorry for the haters on here
I lost my dog Lucy when I was 13 and litterly nothing has hurt me as much as losing her and I have had more than my fair share of hardship. But when she died it broke every once of will to live and sanity I had I remember clear as day begging and pleading for my dogs life saying that God could take anything else from me my voice sight my fingers my life I didn't care just not her. I still Carry her collar even though I'm 21 now. No heart break could ever hurt me as much as that did it's like I watched my world shatter. It didn't even hurt as much when my grandma died 3 months later
@Asker Sorry for all of your loss, I know how it feels.. My maternal grandma had Alzheimer's disease and my maternal grand-dad had cancer he passed in 1996 on Aug 25 and passed Aug 9, 1998
my grandparents were like my mom and dad it was so sad.. I loved my paternal grandparents but we were not close with them and how I wish things were different.. I'm sorry for all your losses and sorrows (( Hugs )) :(
I'm not sure there's nuch you can do considering the fact no one really knows how to treat this virus properly, mostly for animals
Lmao dude I thought the same thing Rona!
@CreamySeed I take it Rona is a virus? Rona is short for la llorona
Rona is what black people call coronavirus
@CreamySeed well I was calling her Rona before there was a coronavirus
Going to the vet would be a good idea
Can't take her to a vet closest vet is 5 hour's away
Why not try to call them and they might be able to help you over the phone? If they have a smartphone on hand, they might even be able to do it over a webcam.
I tried that already they said they don't handle live stock and hung up on me
Thaaaaat sounds weird. There should be vets who check livestock as well. Didn't know vets would turn down someone...
Probably infested with mites
She doesn't have mites
Take her to the vet right now
Can't take her to a vet closest vet is 5 hour's away
eat her , fresh chicken is good eating
You shouldn't eat a sick chicken and I wouldn't eat Rona
You do every time you eat KFC
Umm... I don't eat KFC because it sucks sooo don't know what to tell yah
Did you check her cloaca for obstructions
I'm not sure how to do that
Is she pooping peeing laying eggs still
I found her at 11 today but I haven't seen her lay an egg or poop/pee
Mmm dinner
That's not helpful
