Why would the most disgusting criminal cry?

I've heard of a disgusting convict that stole, raped a couple college girls, cheated with his son's wife (and fathered the baby too), etc. He had no limits at all.

He was a real POS, all hardened, pure evil, nothing good in him. He even laughed at his crimes and wrongdoings, never showed remorse whatsoever. Suddenly when the priest (after he gave a short speech how childhood trauma is the reason for our current actions) asked him what his parents did, what terrible damage could they have done to him, what was it. The sick criminal got defensive so fast, yelled at him to leave and started crying... then shaking.

If that's an evil, sick criminal why did the priest's words got him? Why was he crying after that question?

That POS went from his maniac laughter to getting defensive and breaking down like a little kid would after the priest asked a simple question. He couldn't answer it and cried.

A lot of criminal scumbags are manipulative in that way... when they are in danger they'll play the victim and start crying, saying how they're so sorry and ashamed of themselves, how it's not really their fault and they're a product of their upbringing, etc... But then they'll flip like a switch and start acting like an angry tough guy asshole the second playing weak doesn't help them. Best to just bash their brains in while they're sobbing like a whelp so they don't get to die with any dignity.

Batman said that criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot. He probably knows that he will end up roasting on the end of a pitchfork for all eternity.

What I find interesting is that guy would displayed no remorseful at all and claimed he was bad because he felt like it. He seemed so evil until the priest asked him that simply question. He went from ''no emotions'' to actually admitting he was a sick POS.
