+1 yI just do what I do. Same as always. It's not the same stuff as I did before, but I still do what I do. I don't know any other way to explain it. I just live. It doesn't "feel" like anything. I can think about differences intellectually, but it doesn't actually feel like anything.
I can't do the things physically that I used to do. And yea that sucks. But I take it in stride. The aging process is very slow. It prepares you as you go along. Sometimes I think something sucks, but there were things that sucked when I was 20. I deal with them now like I did then. There are also things that I enjoy now that I didn't enjoy before.
I'm not who I was before. Not physically, intellectually, or emotionally. There have been times when I realized I'm not that person any more, so who am I? It took a while, but eventually I figure it out and went on from there.
When I was your age I thought 65 was really old. Well, I still think it's old, but I don't feel like I'm completely over the hill or anything. It does kind of freak me out when I think about it. My own mortality is something I'm more aware of. And quite honestly that scares the shit out of me.
For now I'm still kicking it and digging some of life's simple pleasures. I don't need the kind of excitement that I used to need. I don't go to several parties a week like I used to. I'm glad that stuff is behind me. Some people my age and older are still social animals out hitting the bars, dancing, getting drunk and even still doing drugs. Not me though. I'm content just kicking back.10 Reply

u +1 yit feels like it went too quick, sometimes...
and also, a bit like you were just pushed to where you ended up, because sometimes... you make all these plans and stuff, and out of nowhere life just happened to you, instead of you, making things happen...
not the same for everybody, of course... but stuff like that happens, so buckle up and enjoy while you can41 Reply

u +1 yThe change in ourselves is very imperceptible. One day you wake up and you say, "I still feel like I did when I was 21 years old, but where in the hell did this 66 year old body come from?"
31 Reply When I get there I guess I’ll feel pretty normal.
I cried when I turned 20 but looking back three years I realise I was just a baby. I do feel older because the mental development between 19/20 and 23 is astronomical. I felt a huge shift even between 18 and 19. I became more rational and more mature and I guess by my 26th birthday that shift will be even greater because the prefrontal cortex will be fully developed by then. I still make some dumb decisions and behave childish on occasion but overall I have grown up since then.
At 30 I guess I’ll look back at my early-mid twenties and think well I was a baby and I learned a lot but apart from having lived for a few extra years, having made a lot more memories and lived a lot more experiences, and hopefully also hit a lot more milestones, I’ll still be me. I’m still the same person just older, wiser and with more experiences, mistakes and lessons behind me.
And I hear women are at their physical peak between the late 20s and early 30s so hopefully I’ll look the best I’ve ever looked and also be a lot more confident in myself.
And maybe I’ll have a child by then too!00 Reply
+1 yWell I can't really remember what it feels like to be 21, In fact memories from back then are a little hazy.
Which probably isn't a good thing.
My body has matured, I've developed that filling out that happens. That youthful leanness has gone.
I personally don't have the curiousity or the wonder for the world like I used to. I'm accepting life for what it is.
There's still some hope though that I will marry and have kids one day.
I'm just not In any race to do it soon. I guess because again that's another lesson learned patience really is a virtue.00 Reply550 opinions shared on Other topic. I feel the same now physically/health wise as I did 20 years ago. I am better off financially than I was before. I know what I like/want in life, but more importantly I know what I don't like/don't want in life.
It is pretty cool to have been the age to grow up as video games matured from the Atari 2600 up to modern consoles. I still have my consoles as far back as the original 8-bit Nintendo.10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Other topic. You become old enough to see some of the patterns in society. And have had enough time to understand yourself better. Some of the things that were important as a younger person seem less important, and things that were less important like retirement suddenly seem more real.
If you as a young person can have the vision to plan ahead, things like savings and property become a lot easier later on.10 ReplyIt's weird, especially hanging out on gag reading young people's posts about relationships and their future plans. Having been married and everything in the past, I feel like I've lived a whole other life before that I've almost forgotten about.

@Bidensucks2020 I bet you're right... When I'm 75.

I fucking love this. This makes me excited, happy and hopeful for my 40s as long as I can stay looking young and beautiful.
Granted you're a woman and women just get fucking better with age. My best friend/crush is 43 and she constantly tells me how awesome being 40 is and how she gets more awesome with age. I didn't meet her till she was already 39 but I have to agree.
Hopefully I can pull it off as a man, like Tom Cruise. - +1 y
@InventorofWarp Thanks! I always thought only men aged well. I am pleasantly surprised and I think it shows irl.
- +1 y
That's funny 'cause I always thought the opposite despite society seeming to value men more as they age (which kinda hurts 'cause my youth has not been enjoyed and most men bald as they get older fingers crossed). Men are valued based on what they can provide and in that sense my youth has been spent just kinda climbing for stability and my career has barely even begun let alone gotten anywhere great.
Kinda sucks 'cause I'd like to be young, fit, and with vitality and beauty still when I fall in love and eventually fuck some chick not old, not fit and with grey hair (I'm hoping I have mein Opa's genes and go grey rather than bald, certainly seems to be the case so far). - +1 y
@InventorofWarp I think you have lots of time. Women have ticking clocks. You have at least 15 years before you need to worry
- +1 y
Also I'm one of the few guys who arguably has a thing for older women I guess (I never seek it out, it just works out that way I guess I get along better with them, hell, my crush messaged me!).
Like I said, my crush and friend is 43 soon and absolutely fucking gorgeous, hilarious, smart and awesome. Plus it just means there's so much of her to discover and learn about and look back on over the years of her life and so many more stories to hear about.
I hope to one day hear them all but I doubt I'll get there.
Sometimes I get kinda jealous and envious looking back at how many more photos and stories and stuff than me she has and I think like her life and stories are so much more interesting than mine and I know she's done more by my age than I ever will, she probably had plenty of relationships by my age and lost her virginity in her teens.
I'm still waiting. Sometimes I feel less than for it. But, it's just cool to be able to say someone like that actually wants to hang out with me.
It's also cool to be able to learn from her and it just makes me that much more proud of myself when I can teach her something. - +1 y
I don't want kids I'm just talking about my body and being attractive/actually looking youthful.
Plus women look cute and sweet and innocent at any age.
Men do not.
So, there's also that. That kinda bothers me to some degree.
The older you get the further distanced from that boy you were you get to the point that you're just not even anywhere close to him anymore and no one can see him anymore in you ever. You just become his ghost. That scares me.
Women don't change as much. - +1 y
@InventorofWarp It sounds like you have a lot to look forward to.

As a friend? Yes.
As anything more? No, I'm not her man.
Wishing your friend's relationship ends is not a very good friend thing to do. Having someone special around is just nice in itself.
- +1 y
@InventorofWarp sorry, I didn't realize your friend is in a relationship.
