I was born in 1954 and grew up not far from the ocean in a southern Los Angeles County suburb. I think it was the best possible time and place to grow up.
Things were simpler and there was unbelievable liberty. Kids played outside, unsupervised. There was no tracking and tracing, and records weren't stored and shared electronically. Cops weren't ass holes. We didn't live in a "security state".
Well paying jobs with benefits were plentiful. Men could support their family on one income.
Media hadn't been consolidated under 5 mega-corporations. There was independent journalism. There was still a free press, you know, like in the Bill of Rights.
Parents and grandparents handed down stories, knowledge and values from times in which they had lived. Moms cooked and baked.
Things weren't made of plastic with built-in obsolescence. Most things that broke could be repaired. People could work on their own cars when cars were still mechanical.
There were local farms and dairies. There were no GMOs or artificial hormones and probably few antibiotics.
Mom and pop stores (bakeries, diners, restaurants, hardware, clothing, fabric, shoe repair, etc.) thrived.
You could have milk delivered to your door. The bread/bakery truck and ice cream truck came around daily.
Kids had paper routes.
Colleges and hospitals were affordable.
The country was prosperous, suburbs were shiny and new with great schools, parks and public facilities. Even regular people had swimming pools and new cars. Shopping centers (malls) were a new thing. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Santa's Village, and so many other things were brand new. They were inexpensive and for the entire family, not just full of thrill rides. In fact, everything was family oriented.
Museums and many other things were free.
You could park along the highway for free and go down to the beach. You could build bonfires and have all night beach parties. No cops were on patrol.
There were TV shows with wholesome role models.
There were drive-in movies and old "movie palaces", as well as regular theaters. You could pay to get in anytime, even in the middle of a movie, and stay as long as you wanted. They played two movies with cartoons in between.
I remember old fashioned music but also got to witness the golden age of the 60s and 70s.
It was a time of positive social change with the civil rights movement, the end of segregation, women's rights and anti-war activism. It felt optimistic.

Yes people had so much fun going to Abba and Kiss concerts, great radio stations, no covid masks, a different kind of world in the 70s and 80s. It's too bad other people couldn't see how life was then.
Maybe like born in the 80s so I would've experienced the 90s more vividly. It sounds like a fun time.
Other than that, maybe the future, because I feel like I'm in my 20s in a bad timing with the pandemic, climate crisis, housing crisis etc. I have somewhat faith we might solve our issues a bit so then in the future so wouldn't have to experience these things. Also like further in the future, because with the polarization of society right now, I think in the near future something drastic might happen.
I'm happy at my time of birth. People say that today's teenagers are influenced with devices while before teenagers were more active and smart. Well this doesn't have anything to do with gender because not always necessary that teenagers nowdays are fool or video games addicted. It depends on how they are grown up. If parents don't strictly stop devices when they were kids then certainly they wouldn't have been that way.

I love history and I can’t get enough of it, but every time I get too romantic about say, the 19th century, I remember I’d likely be in a workhouse. History is actually a creative way of imagining my life in very uncomfortable scenarios. I will gladly stay in 2021 thank you.
Presuming you mean the past, absolutely not. Entertainment has never been so available or cheap. Medicine is better than its ever been. Work is easier than ever. The poorest people today have devices in their pockets that outclass the best multi million dollar supercomputers from just a couple decades ago.
Sometimes I wish I was born in the 70’s because TV shows make the time period look like fun. I also really like the 90’s too and wish I got to experience more of it. The culture and tech of the 90’s seemed really appealing. I’m a ‘97 baby.
Sometimes I wish I was born in Victorian times or earlier but with all my current knowledge.
Yeah it was easier to be a good person in old days. I'd go back if I could, even if life was hard in some ways. I hate how tech makes us now.
Maybe the 60s, so I could grow up when all this great music was coming out and see those bands perform in their original lineups. And also when the world was much safer for travel.
I would want to be in my now age in 2000s first years
Yea I wish I was born in 2021 or sum cz no assignments no stress rn only waaa waa 🚶🏿♀️
I wish I were born in the time where they have found how to permanently reverse aging using some magic pill or something not plastic surgeries.
Yeah, might as well take it all the way back to cave man days
The grass isn't always greener. Life would be no different. It isn't the era; it's you.
I would’ve been a good Gen Z’er because in elementary or middle school, just having a computer made you a nerd and a nerd in a bad way not like all the people who love nerds today.
no im completely happy with my life, i dont wanna be anyone else
Yes I wish I lived in the 50’s when people actually valued each other
Nope. These younger people are stupid and don't know how to act lol
Nah I enjoy WiFi. And the future would just be stressful. Like an old man in a electronics store.
Maybe the 60s/70s, I just hate todays world.
Yeah, sound 1780 or 1810 USA
Yes, definitely. The 1940s or 50s.
I am beyond content with my life
