Trending & News I use to wish I was a 90s baby, but thank goodness I am an 00s baby. lmaooooo

Timing-wise, no. I was born in 1979, so my childhood (1-10) lined up pretty squarely with the 80s, and my adolescence (11-20) with the 90s. Probably a heavily influenced opinion, haha, but thereās no other time period when I wouldāve rather been a child or an adolescent.
I feel like things really started to take off in the 80s, technology, entertainment, music, pop culture in general. But Iām glad I was a kid for it, viewing it through a childās eyes with that sense of wonder. Some of it looks so ridiculous in retrospect, so Iām happy I was a kid and witnessing it more than being a part of it to be embarrassed about later😂
Toys were at their technological best before the annoying restrictions, you could still have cool shit that might be risky for a dumb kid and they might put their eye out, lmao.
We were the last kids who werenāt being watched out for, haha, which is bad in some ways, but it was FUN. You just left the house for the day and came home by the time your parents told you to. No phone to be checked in on or tracked. We had Nintendo for rainy days, but we usually went outside and played sports. You were bored often, and you learned to entertain yourself.
I donāt know, everything just seemed awesome from a kidās perspective in the 80s. Shopping malls at Christmastimeā¦. absolute mob scene, and I loved it. Decorated off the chain, mall Santa to get a picture with, just the hustle and bustle and anxiety-free excitement of the holiday season you only know when youāre a little kid, and itās all getting, no giving, haha. Malls are dead now, thatās so sad to me.
Kidās movies and TV in the 80sā¦. donāt even get me started. DONāT EVEN GET ME STARTED.
Just an awesome time to be a child.
And the 90s, as a teenager? Another perfect hit. The musicā¦. donāt get me started. DONāT GET ME STARTED. I took the local roads home from my hockey game tonight instead of the highway, through some quiet woodsy suburbs, windows down on a beautiful summer night, and I just played all 90s music, but kind of radio-rock I knew but definitely didnāt own albums for. But I remember a period in late high school where I was giving rock a little more of a try (I was into rap and R&B), listening to the local rock station (people used to listen to the radio lmao), and there were some I was never like āOH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG EVERā, but I just have a nostalgic appreciation for them because they were just part of the radio landscape back then. But also Weezer, who kick ass, and Iām seeing in about a month, actually for a 30th anniversary (WOW) tour for their first album. But this still goes so hard, donāt front, Gen Z, you know this is catchy āafā, or āa bopā or whatever the hell else you were saying five years ago that my old ass thinks is still current😂 (5 years is night/day to yāall; a blink of an eye for me, lmao, thatās why older people seem out of touch with trends😝)

Anyway, yeah, that drive was awesome. Really peaceful, and when I was away from the commercial areas that have been redeveloped or different businesses are occupying places I used to knowā¦everything looked exactly the same. Especially in the dark when I couldnāt see the models of todayās cars, just the same houses that have been there my whole life with only some negligible change in shutter paint or somethingā¦. is this 2024? Is it 1997? Am I 45? Am I 18? If you bonked me on the head and woke me up like that, I might not be sure.
And it was such a cool feeling of nostalgia, but also bittersweet, because you always pine to go back, or have a time like that happen again in your life, but you know itās already in the rearview. But I can catch that fleeting feeling for a few seconds like tonight, and it fills my soul, for real.
But the 90s were really cool for a lot of the same pop culture reasons. Music, TV, and movies were still great. We started to get a taste of the internet, but not enough to ruin us, haha. Iām not really retrospectively embarrassed of our style, not all of it anyway. Stuff always looks silly after 20 years passes, but our stuff could be a lot worse. Not without itās questionable looks though😂
And we still had those same āyouāve got a key, let yourself inā parents, so we had a lot of fun, especially once someone in your crew got a car. There was a way that you could raise hell in the 20th century that you canāt get away with now. Everything is on camera now. Back in my heyday, you just had to not get caught in the act or leave indisputable evidence that you were doing dumb shit.
Only thing that was a problem back then: no leash laws. Dogs ran free in the streets. There was no ātake the dog for a walk and bring a little plastic bag to clean up after them.ā It was just the Wild West. You might not even have a dog, but unless you had a fence, you still had to watch your step on your own lawn. You spent way too much time desperately wiping your shoe on the grass back then😷
Other than that though, I feel like I hit the timeline absolutely optimally.
But if weāre talking ageā¦. I wish I was born in the 00s just to be young today😂
I would have preferred being born around 1820, but. . . when I was single, I wanted a date with Natalie Portman. You can want things all day long but you still never get them.
i'm born in 2000, and up to this point thought it was a pretty solid birth year but now i'm getting old :/ (gonna be 24 in 4 months 😭😭) so i think i'd switch to 2004-2007
Later. I somehow feel like I am both Gen Z and Millennial, not just Millennial. Typically I get along with Gen Z perfectly.

I'm happy with my birth year
Nah, '95 is good enough for me. I got to see the entire transition from the dark ages to the social media apocalypse. What a time to be alive.
But in all seriousness. The early 2000s were... a vibe to be sure and I'm glad I witnessed it.
ā I got to see the entire transition from the dark ages to the social media apocalypse. What a time to be alive.ā
lmao š
Its true. Its so true.
You could not pay me to have been born late enough to be a "digital native." I truly think kids today have a lot of the problems they do with lack of concentration, socialization, and pervasive anxiety because they have never known a world where they weren't entertained by screens for hours at a time. We used to play outside and use our imaginations to create games and bond with our peers.
I'm happy right where I am, thanks :)
If I had to choose, I would wish to be born earlier. Anytime 1000s-1800s because my family tree is funnnnn
definitely earlier... the more to experience, the better...
it would just be way way more interesting that way... and, I'm sure I would have not liked to be born into the internet as it is today, no way...
I wish I was born in the 50s with the Fonze. The moon landing, woodstock, vietnam and muscle cars.
No, but I wish I could go back in time to experience some of the cool things I missed, like the music and the great sporting events.
Im born just in time for the grey area between millennials and zoomers AKA Zillenial. I'm technically a Gen Z but one of the first Gen Zs out there.
*Zillennial
The last micro generation to be ruled by social media.
Earlier. I wish early 80s. I am a90s baby. Great time to be a child but I think it would have been better and easier to do so in the 80s
Born in 1957 and grew up in the 60ās and 70ās. I wouldnāt change a thing. You should have been thereā¦. lol
Eh. Don't think about it. I came when I came. I'll disappear when I get snuffed.
I wish I was born yesterday.
ššš
I wish I was never born
Ohā¦;-;
earlier because this time period is so messed up
I like the time I was born :)
I wish they brought ballroom dancing back!
Glad I'm Gen-X. Don't poke a sleeping bear
