Seconding the phone. Mostly because if it is still the initial days phones should still work just fine. Being able to communicate, contact friends and loved ones and shake my head at the horrible end of days memes seems an ideal choice.

I think I own a copy of How to Survive The Zombie Apocalypse from some years back from when Walking Dead made it popular gifts. Maybe that as a runner-up?
I also own a set of keys to the local nearest shop, which is reasonably well stocked and fortified enough. So those all seem good options. In hindsight maybe I should go give those keys back..

Not sure if a phone would do me that much good but still important. After all for a zombie apocalypse to be threatening the survivors have to be ludicrously outnumbered. As in one in 10 000 or worse. Otherwise we'll just clean it up in a few weeks.

Exactly. Even without communication, a phone is still useful. It has a flashlight, entertainment, and a battery if you need to start a fire

Phones and guns would be mostly useless. Mainly as electricity and service would be off/destroyed. Guns require servicing tools and ammo to work right- neither of which any redneck will know how to do or have any large supply of. Meaning they just have a glorified club.

Best bet is bladed weapons
