Why do I feel like I need to have a nice car to impress other people?

For some reason, I feel like I need to have a nice vehicle. I have nothing against people that drive clunker vehicles or older cars. For some reason I want to have the latest & greatest vehicle. I know a lot of it stems from social media I see a lot of people getting brand new cars and then I think I have to make an impression or to seem "successful" I suppose, but I don't get why because I don't get why I should care. I mean I look at the prices of new vehicles and they are outrageous I don't understand how people are able to afford to make those kind of payments on a car. It is frustrating sometimes because I'm this way with a lot of things, but especially when it comes to my vehicle because that is what people see me out & about in.

There is good news, you are not alone and many people try to live well above their means. The truth is no one cares what kind of car you are driving. Your car is not like a house. A car depreciates immediately after you drive it off the lot. Then there are other factors such as maintenance, insurance, registration and personal property taxes. People like this are usually really shallow. Perhaps a social media break is in order.

I bought one brand new vehicle in my life I probably had over 50 cars 20 trucks 50 motorcycles I would never buy a brand new vehicle again in my life ever you can buy really really nice cars for really really good prices if you pay attention and do shopping it will last a very long time you might think you want to impress people but what about you you need a car that is dependable get you from point A to point B and not break down to have good gas mileage something you pay cheap insurance for you want a nice car. To impress people but for you so everyday you get into that car you know you worked your ass off to get it but don't go the full distance my buying a brand new car because here soon we're going to be on a fuel save you money to get electric car that way you're ahead of the game because it's going to become mandatory very very shortly no more gasoline cars

You probably think of yourself as some hotshot "influencer". When in fact you're probably just looking for the validation in others, that you never got from your parents.

Social status. You're right, it's not important, sometimes even not very smart if you can't afford it, but women especially seem to care about social status. It's way a lot marry, and why they care so much about what a guy does.

You could get a clean used car instead. No one will know or care that you didn’t get it new.
