Why is it too expensive to make a movie?

Depends on a business. That being said, if you are asking this question that means your business is physical, meaning it is in physical building that has been there for many years now and that means you were able to build your clientele based on your physical location as well. Moving to another state or country means you have to re-produce your success, by getting a new physical place to open your business (expensive), finding customers (time consuming and expensive) advertisement, community meetings etc... The rule of thumb is, first 2 years of business are somewhat not profitable, due to people not knowing about your business, plus you be competing against other business around you.

Ok I miss-red a word move with movie. I do have to apologize for that. That being said, shooting movie is an expensive business no matter how you look at it. You need equipment, you need different places to shoot your movie at, you need a script, you need actors, and you also need a lot of people who actually be doing all the camera shooting, building stages, manipulating lights and angels acting advertisement etc..

Well, the enormous success of the movie business meant that stars could start demanding insane salaries (which they did), which drives costs up, as do fancy CGI and engineering effects. Marketing costs, too.

You can, of course, make movies for much, MUCH less money- but then they tend to not be nearly so flashy or profitable.
