Mostly just that there are two special states in which they get along. Put into contrast to the rest of the lyrics it is only these two.

Floating to me seems to be a drunk, high or otherwise intoxicated state. All electric likely meaning music or far apart.
So only those versions of themselves in that one special situation works together.

We can interpret a little more based on location, the whole floating Outside Your Door bit hinting at how the person is waiting, willing, ready and may or may not be acknowledged in turn. That is however a much simpler to interpret part.

So well. Special states. Get along in those. Bad otherwise. No lyrical masterpiece but meaning exists wherever we want it to be.
