The left side here in Japan although it was very confusing for me at first since I learned to drive and got my driver's license originally in the US. Japanese also tend to walk on the left side of a sidewalk or narrow path. I heard the custom dates back to samurai where swords were worn on the left, so walking left prevented people from bumping into a samurai's sword.

There's a theory that ''we'' are supposed to drive on the left.
Where the interpretation of the public is somewhat... tolerant.
In the end ''you'' drive where you find space. Even if it's the wrong direction or the 'sidewalk'.

  Around 20000 traffic deaths each year. Majority is small motorbikes :(

Down the freaking middle if no one else is around or in sight. These long empty rural roads, we were actually taught the safest place is in the middle in drivers education when its just you on the road.

In the US, we drive on the right. I've driven in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong, where you drive on the left, and several other countries in Europe, were you drive on the right.

FUN FACT: In 1967, Sweden changed from driving on the left to driving on the right, AFIK, that's the only country to do so.

Right side of the road with a left hand drive car or truck here in North America. I have driven right hand drive cars on the left side of the road in some European and Asian countries. Not a bad experience.
