How often do you have to take out the trash and how many people live in your house?

There’s only 2 adults and 1 child living in my house. I take out the trash and I swear 2 days later there are 3 more full bags waiting to get taken out. How the hell is there so much trash in this damn house.

I stopped taking the trash out. I have 2 roommates. We're all dudes. All adults. One of them has the lionshare of the trash so I let him take it out. He piles so much shit in there that it's ridiculous for anyone else to take it out.

There was more than one occasion I'd throw away a beer bottle of mine and a banana peel and now the trash is full. Or I take the trash our. Throw away an apple rind I just ate. End of day trash is full.

Too many times was I taking it out that I said fuck it. That's his job now. If it was just my trash I would maybe have to take the garbage out once a week. His level of garbage is a daily to every other day need but he let's it cap off and just barely overflow before taking it out because he pushes it down so much to avoid taking it out.

If I see it that full any of my trash I put directly on the dumpster. Only way I could deal with it without getting completely annoyed

When I was married, with 2 x adults and 2 x kids I had to take it out almost daily. But as a single guy once week. I cook on Sundays and make enough food to get me through the week so other than that unless I order amazon I do not really need to take out more than once a week. I rarely though away left overs so it doesn't really smell at all, and when I do I throw that stuff out right before I take it out.

We take the trash out daily, full or not.

One reason for so much garbage is that everything we buy is wrapped in plastic, then in a plastic bag, and then in a box. Liquids come with a plastic cap under the cap. If you buy 2 bottles of shampoo, they come in a cardboard binder and wrapped in plastic. Lots of wrapping to throw away on top of the regular stuff we actually use.

I take out trash pretty much everyday as it is my job in home and 4 people live in my home. It's me, my small sister, dad and mom. And only like one or two average sized plastic bags trash is produced. Most is of kitchen. Now that I read about your condition... I'm confused as well like how the hell do we produce less trash!

Do you eat prepackaged food or buy a lot of packaged utensils and shop items? I know when I took the left over vegetable platters home from church, that was over 1/3rd of a single garbage bag and 2 cans of canned fish is also around a third or half of a bag. It also depends on how big your bags are, some bags can carry 5 times more than a smaller bag, such as Taco Bell bags etc…

There is 5 people in my household, as well as 3 pets.


We take out six 33gal trash bags every week as well as a shit ton of recycling. Some weeks we have less then 6, others we will have the 6 as well as 3 extra trash bags.


How does this happen, I don't know 🤷🏼‍♀️

We had.. issues with our trash collector. We have since hauled mine to one of my Taekwondo studio dumpsters (which they don’t use unless they have a party) for a fraction of the cost the awful city hired company wants. Probably three bags a week. No more crunched, moved or stolen dumpsters by mental employees. I should show the old security videos. People are insane.

I always take trash out and to curb. Pretty hands and feet are charming and quite feminine. I prefer her hands stay out a wet sink, dirty ground, and/or nasty trash.

One person, but have Four bins, general waste, paper/cardboard waste, glass/metals/plastic waste, and organic garden waste.
The general waste goes out every week, the glass/metals/plastic waste goes out every two weeks, and the paper/cardboard waste every four weeks but that is a bigger bin, and organic garden waste goes out is also a larger bin and should go out every four weeks but I do not garden a lot so it only goes out once or twice a year..

I live by myself, have a 13 gallon ( 50 liter ) trash can in the house and usually gets taken out once every two weeks.
We have 96 gallon (365 liter) trash cans that the city picks up once a week.
I might put mine out on the street for pick up once every six weeks during the cool weather.
What does surprise me, is that there are residents on my street, just two people in the house and the trash can and equal size recycling can are overflowing every week.
