Since I am limited on questions, here is another one and completely unrelated to the main question...

QUESTION 2 -

For girls, what were the absurd rules you had to follow regarding your school uniform, or hairstyle or similar to that nature?

Recently I saw a YT video

And the reasons seem absurd! I just do not like it! Too controlling. Nape of the neck! Did not even think about it...

I frequently make the mistake of omitting a word while typing. I also sometimes shuffle sentences around in an attempt to make them clearer but make a mistake in the rearrangement of words. It's really annoying because I tend to gloss over those mistakes on my first attempts at proofreading (it's like I make the same mistake in re-reading a second time as I did the first as I was reading what I was typing as I typed it). I really wish we had an editing feature on this site.

As for the stringent dress code in schools in Japan, I think many of them are rather arbitrary and silly but I am pro-uniform and pro-dress code for schools. I think they help to prevent such superficial cliques from forming among students. Japanese teens still tend to be cliquey in school a little bit but they tend to be based on academic interests or deep personality traits like artists, writers, athletes, and scientists, not the sort we tend to find in the US like emos, Goths, preppies, poor kids.

If I was able to dictate the dress code in schools, I'd simplify things a lot. We just shave the heads of both boys and girls regularly similar to the military, and I'd favor unisex uniforms for both (pants and shirt).

That simplifies things a lot and eliminates all these silly rules related to hairstyles and the allowed lengths of skirts and so forth. We just eliminate hair and eliminate skirts.

I also support uniforms for the reasons you mentioned. In fact I questioned myself regarding the uniforms when I was in school, and it was more or less the same answer as yours, so I went along with it.
But the girls uniform... never really thought about it. Our school was very liberal regarding it too! Not many hairstyles, but some were recommended. And regarding pony, nothing was there.

But I like your idea. Simple and easy to maintain too!
But will the parents want this to happen? They may withdraw their kid from the school but not cut the hair. I think.

I was thinking the school staff could just give students a buzz cut on a regular basis (say once a month), just like in the military. Just bzzzzzzrtt. Next! I don't think we'd have a problem so much with parents withdrawing students here.
