I don't want to tamper with distant history as I have no idea whether it will make the present situation better or worse. I would rather travel into the future temporarily and get information (ex: stock market) which I can use to make myself mega-rich after traveling back to the present.

In reality, it's gonna trigger a lot of chain of events that you won't know it'll happen may ruin or make the world better. You may not be born if you change just one thing in the past. Also, it's risky because those viruses present in you that didn't exist in their time can spread.
