What about you? Would you go back in time if there was the possibility? And why?

Those dresses were deadly!! You're brave! They constrict breathing and cause hernias, ulcers & impactions! No ty we're I woman!
I'm a world history teacher so the list is VAST!!
My NUMBER ONE time travel encounter would be with Marcus Aurelius. His writings changed my life and his life is an eternal example of a life well lived. You MUST read his seminal work "Meditations".

I would like to go back to the period BC, maybe Egyptians, Mesopotamia? Something like that, understand how they lived so long ago and how it differed from us, now. I know archaeologists and scientists, have explained things based on findings, but I'm sure if you travelled back then you would uncover some gems.
I would like to see the Renaissance era or to have my painting done by a renaissance artist.. A girl can dream, can't she?
Late 60s or early 70s, but once it hits 1973, I want out.

I'd return to just prior to 3/3/24 and when there I would make sure that a legally binding "Do Not Resuscitate" order was in place regarding my body.
I twice went into cardiac arrest on that particular day earlier this year.
I was horribly, painfully revived to my now being a SCAR, or Sudden Cardiac Arrest Resuscitatee, with its many horribly debilitating psychological, emotional, mental, social, and physical after-effects.
Yep, that's where I'd go.
Cheers to all.
Thank you for your compassion.
No, I didn't have any sort of DNR jewelry.
Prior to that day, I never gave the idea a single thought, as many of us probably don't.
After what I personally experienced and continue to experience, and then also afterwards learning of the experiences of others like me, I'm of the opinion that resuscitation of people who are in cardiac arrest should be outlawed.
I'm working on getting DNR paperwork in order, but it seems that no one whom I've contacted about it is willing to touch the subject.
I'd hate to have to pay an attorney for the right to be left to die a natural death.
I know that it's a rather morbid subject to speak about, but I am absolutely serious in my stance.
Thank you again.
I personally don't think that it should be outlawed, but if you don't want to be resuscitated, that's your right, so you should be able to choose for yourself. Before contacting an attorney, maybe try to look on the Internet for someone who had the paperwork done. Maybe they could help you and tell you what is the next step.
Short trip or permanent?
The 60s would be ideal for a permanent transition. Still modern enough for basic amenities such as running water/electricity but also it would be so incredibly bad ass to watch famous musicians like the beetles, Led Zeppelin, etc when they were just up and coming. Go to one of their first performances. I would also still be around in the 80s when all the Hollywood movie blockbusters (Indiana jones, Star Wars, etc.) come out
But if it was a short trip I would definitely visit Israel in 30 AD to meet Jesus in the flesh. Listen to his sermon on the mount in real person. Life was very harsh for most people back then but I could handle a short trip.
I think it's going to take me 3 weeks or so to answer this question just to look up some cool things that I would like to check out there's just way too many to go back to I think I would rather go back or go to the Future I want to see how our kids and our grandkids are going to live their lives or if it's going to be evil times because where we're headed right now it doesn't look good
I'd just wanna see the roman empire but I don't know if I want to live there. The life expectancy was not as good as it is today and they had lead water pipes which was also not great but other than that I just wanna experience it :) I'd also wanna just see what the 70s and 80s and early 90s were like from a grown up perspective :) But if I have to live there for ever I'll just stay here because I think I was born at a good time and I don't wanna leave :)
No, you don't want to live there, under a 2024 wealthy country's perspective, absolutely not 😅
If you had the life of a typical guy in Zambia, then yes, you could probably integrate more easily to the Roman empire. Ummm no, change your skin color first lol
Would the butterfly effect be in place? What if I take covid with me, wipe out 10% of the population? What if I pick up the black death or smallpox, can I return to now for treatment?
Anything much more than 150 years the English language would be vastly different, assuming I went to UK or a colony. My Latin, Ancient Greek or Hebrew are a bit rusty.
I'd need pockets filled with gold for currency.
No. I'll stay in the present.
How to predict member's skin color in a time travel to the past thread:
Black folks: Uhhhhh, how about no?
White folks: Yasssss Roman empire ftw !
Why would skin colour matter?
@Drumlin2001 Because if you were black, there are many moments in time and space where you would not want to live, unless you want to be a slave lol
If I could just observe, late 1960's when bands like the Jeff Beck Group and Deep Purple and Yes were formed.
You would be a highway star with wonderous stories, that's for sure!!
If I get to return to my time and bring whatever I want back with me, either the Cretaceous perioid or the Jurassic period.
I'd travel back to whenever the hell it was and see how the Romans (or somebody long them) was planning on moving the "forgotten stone", which is over 1650 tons
Maybe go back to the WW2 era or maybe go back to the 1960s/
Not too far back, probably 70s to early 80s , I would have had a better time there as an adult not as a kid like I was
It would be a great opportunity to meet God - Jesus Christ.
Or a special revelation if he wasn't there to be seen. I mean this is a possibilty lol
Ancient Greece - time of Pericles
Time of Christ
I'm black so noothing further than the Obama administration
As a historian, I would love to observe the past, but not live it.
I would like to time travel, either in the distant future, or in the past before damn cell phones.
Western Europe 1980
I would go back when nobody was in the Americas at all
I would hang out with all those dinos...
I wouldn't. Not as a woman.
The mid `60's, the psychedelic era.
