cats. Reasons:

1. cause they're way more cute when adult. puppies are cute but grown dogs are mostly not.
2. Cats are less work. They don't take up as much of your time. you don't have to walk them. just have to feed them and clear the litterbox once in a while.
3. when the shit hits the fan, cats can survive on their own in the wild. dogs will just die if they don't find another human that cares.
4. when a big dog loses his shit, he can kill you. a cat can scratch you at best.

Dogs, because I'm allergic to cats, and am thus unable to properly appreciate them and the value of their companionship. Might (I doubt it, but I might) feel differently if I was, but I'm not.

I was raised mostly with dogs, however, there’s some neighborhood cats and I like them. I like both cats and dogs. I think they have very different personalities and can be very sweet.
