What’s the point of washing machine and laundry mats?

Why don’t people just wash their clothes in the bath tub? It saves money and it’s simple. Am I the only one who thinks that simple small articles of clothing can be washed in the tub? I understand that you need a machine for sheets and blankets, but the small stuff I put in my tub. Am I Weird?

I'm 55 years old and never thought of this. Yes it does save money but I don't know that you get it as clean as taking it to the laundromat. And I'm not questioning your skills. I would think it would get a better washing and rinsing in a washing machine

I wash my 'smalls' & socks and occasional shirt in the tub/sink when I'm away from home working, and most of the hotels I use have a laundry service of one form or another, when I'm at home I wait til I have a full load for the washing machine (around 17 lb) and do everything in one shot, as I'm single that would be about every two-three weeks.

Washing machine saves both water and electricity so in the long term you save money and time.

Not everybody has a bathtub and then you got a driver and you might not have room for a clothesline anywhere either but most people have too many clothes to wash that way
