If size matters, why isn't the US on the metric system?

If size matters, why isnt the US on the metric system?
We all know that the US only sometimes uses metric measurements, like 2 liter Coke bottles and 10mm bolts.

You have to admit that 15 cm sounds a lot bigger than 6 inches.

So, if size does matter, why isn't the US on the metric system?
