Will USA ever go for metric system?

Go on, tell us about how arbitrary it is to use a length tied to a long-dead monarch's body, and so much more logical to use the length of a bar in a safe in Switzerland. We, Liberia, Jamaica, and Myanmar are much happier NOT kowtowing to French imperialism, thank you.

The UK tends to use a mix of metric and imperial. This holds true for mechanical parts, some are metric some are imperial (and old ones are whitworth). Some metric things caught on, some imperial is still used.

It already has in many different areas of life.

For example...

Anything involving electricity is already in metric.

The beverage industry often sells products in fractions and multiples of liters (usually a multiple of quarter liters).

@strateguy632 No, it's not. If you check closely, more and more beverages are being sold metrically. For instance, look at all those little cans in the past 20 years since Red Bull entered the market. The 8.3-oz / 250-ml can is now common.

The 12-oz beverage is still strong though and many cans and bottles are still that size and, of course, the gallon, but think about quite a few other beverages. All liquor seems to be sold in metric amounts. For many many years, OJ was sold in half-gallon cartons. Then, along came the carafe from Simply Orange. It wasn't a half-gallon but 59-oz (but was really 1.75 l). For years, that became the new standard for OJ: 1.75 l. Now, because of shrinkflation, the new carafe standard is 52-oz which is about 1.55 l. Soon it will be the 1.5 l outright.

But, yes, lots of beverages are still in US units.

Metric is used in the USA. believe it or not, Americas can use more than one measuring system and do basic math to do unit conversions just like we can speak different languages and translate between them. It seems to me that you're country needs to broaden their horizons and learn to use more than just a parochial system.

But in all seriousness its used here more often than you think. Especially in the automotive field. Everything on a car is metric. Most machines at my plant are metric.

And of course ammunition. Ammo is measured in MM. 7.62x51mm, 5.56x45mm, 9x19mm and so on.

Yeah if dealing with the drug trade it’s always in the metric system :) all the cars here use metric sized tools also, we just still use miles for distance and speed and also height in feet

Then I guess you haven't done any work on a newer vehicle. Most everything is metric. Cars trucks snowmobiles motorcycles. Even the great American bike the Harley has some metric fasteners on it.

We are already using the metric system. Engines went from cubic inch to liters. Liquid in in metric instead of gallons
