Well, actually it's not just Europeans - the entire world uses the metric system, and for good reason. The driving force behind the metric system was the need for a single, rational and universal system of weights and measures that could be used worldwide. The metric system was designed to have properties that make it easy to use and widely applicable, including units based on the natural world, decimal ratios, prefixes for multiples and sub-multiples, and a structure of base and derived units. It is also a coherent system, which means that its units do not introduce conversion factors not already present in equations relating quantities. It has a property called rationalisation that eliminates certain constants of proportionality in equations of physics.
We, the USA along with Liberia are the only two countries that use the imperial system, which is inaccurate and arbitrary, based on earlier medieval and Roman systems. So to answer your ridiculous question: the more "civilized" measurement system is clearly Metric. Look into it.

I feel like we should switch to the metric system, more countries use it.
Metric is easier and simpler. Majority of the countries previously ruled by the British who had the imperial system in the past have now switched to metric. The conversions are simple, there's consistency and its more accurate. For eg, everyone knows 1000 metres equals 1km. 100cm equals 1 metres. 1 mile is 1760 and thats weird, quite an odd conversion. I'm familiar with both to a degree and grew up with a mix of both but as I grew older, to me metric just made more sense. In the UK its kind of a mix ( we use miles for distances, stones and pounds for weight measurements in some places here and kilos in some, pints for certain liquid groceries, celsius for weather).
Um... they use the Imperial system. Metric IS imperial. Are you under the impression that it was Consul Napoleon who started his "Let's take over the whole world and laugh while we do it" plan? Or that those countries adopted the Metric system voluntarily?

Why doesn't the US switch their silly little imperial system to the more civilized metric system where a kilometer is a kilometer and a litre is a litre instead of 1.609 something crazy? I realize u have to be better at math than probably most American people but they should go to school more anyway like 12 years as well as us instead of the current 8 or 9 that they do
Because 99.9 % of the world uses the metric system.
Because most of the rest of the world is metric. I grew up in England when they still used the imperial system.
Only 3 countries in the world still use the imperial system. We need to switch to the international metric system so we get excat measurements and not get cheated like they do in america with the imperial system. We don't even get a true gallon here.
It's not only Europe, you're talking about most of the world.
actually, everyone switched to metric. you guys should too. unless you wanna keep copying the brits ;)
Because metric is better.
Europeans only go to school 8 or 9 years?
Why should we switch? Metric system is better.
