If you had Covid, how bad was it?

I'm only in day 2/3 of knowing I have it. The pain at first was so bad. I was sick starting on Saturday morning and tested Saturday night when the symptoms amplified.

I feel like you can run, but you can't hide forever. I managed not to get it for 2 years, but here we are...

... and not only can you not hide forever, you weaken your immune system by not exposing it to other pathogens, hampering your ability to fight off Covid when you DO catch it.

It's almost like basic medical practice actually works! I caught it back in the summer of 2020, and that was after deliberately seeking it out. The pandemic wouldn't end until we hit herd immunity, and that wouldn't happen until enough of us got sick and recovered; catching it was essentially a social duty for the young and strong.

It was a simple case of the sniffles.

So does that mean you need to seek and catch each variant? Especially because the immunity from catching the virus in lasts up to 6 months.

No. Strictly speaking "immunity" doesn't exist when it comes to diseases; a sufficiently heavy infection can overwhelm any immune system. You can be FUNCTIONALLY immune, but not ACTUALLY.

Nor does that immunity last "only six months"; that's the point at which you stop producing antibodies. But memory B cells last years, and T cells last decades- this is why you don't catch chicken pox more than once. Coronaviruses mutate very rapidly; that's why you can keep catching the common cold- it's not the same strain. Since Covid had over ten thousand separate strains identified by April of 2020, the idea of contracting all of them to provide blanket immunity would have been laughable even if they WEREN'T still mutating.

What you get is resistance- it's a mutation, yes, but there's no evolutionary benefit to a disease becoming MORE lethal; it'd burn itself out if it did.

i had it. and if i had not been tested positive on covid, i would have thought it's just the common cold i get every other year or so.

i mean it was never a question whether every individual would eventually get covid or not. we all knew everyone would get it from the get go. like "not having covid at some point" was never an option that we had. every public health institution said this. the entire argument was originally about relieving the stress on the medical system, which then proved to never have been stressed more than in regular flu years.

Hard to tell. I tested positive for it a couple days before I was due for surgery. I didn't even know I had it. I felt so normal I even questioned whether they were just making it up.
They went ahead with my surgery (and it was a rather minor surgery as far as surgeries go. They just put a plate in my fibula). But afterwards they put me in the ICU for 2 days. I still don't know if that was just a precaution or not. They put me on a steroid pack. And I slept pretty much for a week (other than they kept coming in my room and waking me up it was the best sleep I've had in years).
I'm not minimalizing covid. I'm very thankful they took it serious to be on the safe side. But honestly I never felt bad. I'd also like to say doctors and nurses are awesome!

I got the good old delta variant just a month before it got updated to Omicron, so my symptoms might be different.

Anyways, for me it all started with a fever out of nowhere, and all other symptoms slowly appeared afterwards - loss of smell and taste from day 3 till 10, overall weakness and muscle joint pain from day 2 till 7, coughing from day 3 till 10, and tiredness during the first weak.

Unless you have the umicron then that's known as the stealth virus so you might not even seen many symptoms but I had delta and it was pretty shitty, I was a smoker and vaper then and I survived so you'll be fine I'm sure

My wife and I tested positive back in January. I would have thought absolutely nothing of it if my sister's mother-in-law, who'd been visiting for Christmas, hadn't called my parents and told them that she had just tested positive.

My wife also thinks I may have had it once before in the summer of 2020. As far as I was concerned, I just had a no-worse-than-usual sore throat and cold.

I had it in Oct of 2020. The worst days were the first 3. Overall not as bad as I had thought it was going to be.

It wasn't bad as I had both doses of the vaccine (no booster).

It lasted about a month. On Monday morning, I felt as if someone sucked all the energy from me.

That's how I was Saturday night. I didn't get the booster either. My doctor didn't prescribed me any antivirals or antibodies. Only said go to the er if my symptoms are severe.

Yeah. I had a temperature for maybe two days. Mostly body aching and coughs (which lasted 2 months after I finally tested negative)

Never got tested but fairly sure I had it. Never would’ve suspected it wasn’t a normal cold if I hadn’t got a cough before the runny nose, I always get it the other way around. Gone in a week

Admit in hospital for a week.

Yup I was on oxigen nonstop 3 days they won't even allowed me take out oxigen mask for more than 10second.

i was in the hospital for 10 days, before the meds kicked in. Nov 22 ,20 to Dec 2 ,20 I was a hair from being put on a vent
