+1 yWhen I grew up, our cat slept anywhere including on top of me and she'd wake me up by climbing a tree, knocking on the upstairs window... meowing so she could come in at night to sleep. Animals are far smarter than we want to believe. Yes, we got fleas at some point!
Our dogs slept on the floor, couch, in their beds, on our beds and some were chained outside to guard... sadness. Mistake, don't do that. One cold night our guard dog was howling and so annoying I couldn't sleep... wouldn't shut up. I went outside to beat her a$$ I was so mad. I took a whack at her and she welped away wining... as I was going in the house, I realized how damn bitter cold it was and she was short hair... maybe there isn't enough straw,? She's freezing... what a dumb ass selfish 15yr old prick I was.. albeit the other people in the house were still sleeping away! I went back outside into her barn and thought she might attack me but she was laying there shivering with not enough staw... ugh! I turned her loose, brought inside and gave her a warm area. She wasn't chained up anymore after that.
As an adult, I found my kitten on a country road, stuffed him in my shirt to bring home... saved his life, he was starving. Rescue cats seem very grateful for they know suffering. He started out sleeping in my hair... apparently a comfort for a kitten, then in my bed or on me. He died all too soon at 3yrs, but lived a good full kitty life to that point. My philosophy is to help everyone to live a full life, for whatever creature they are... including human. I'd do that for most chickens, should we decide to get chickens.
My last kitties got tossed out of the house due to allergies and endless "malfeasance" as kittens, so they lived outside and learned to enjoy it. The slept wherever they wanted and warm beds or garage in winter.
no pets right now, we've talked about it. Maybe we could handle some fish...

Very early on, when she was just a kitten, she decided that her spot was on our bed, in the center between us at the foot. So we put a small, fleece blanket there and arranged it like a nest. In her later years, we put a warming pad for cats under her nest.
Sometimes she would come up and curl up against either me or my wife. When my wife was sleeping on her side, Rosie liked to curl up against her butt in the crook made by her bent legs.
We have two cats now. Coco is a very petite, sleek, all brown Burmese. She's over 16 now. She sleeps in the same spot that Rosie used to and we have the same set up for her. When my wife first goes to bed and lies on her back under the covers, Coco comes up and lies on her chest like a Sphynx gazing at her with her face inches from hers. But after my wife nods off, she goes back to her own spot where she sleeps throughout the night.
Our other cat, Poatie (Potus), is a super fluffy, marmalade-orange, two year old, 15.5lb part Maine coon. He loves Coco and won't leave her alone, but she is terrified of him so we have to keep the two separated.
We keep Poatie indoors but he has the run of the place when Coco is outside during the day and sometimes sleeps in Coco's bed. At night, he often sleeps on a fleece blanket in my wife's soft, living room chair.
We let Coco outside during the day. We live on acreage in the country but she says close to the house. When she's inside, we close her in her suite of rooms that include our master bedroom and bath and the laundry room where she can feel safe and secure from the beast.10 Reply
+1 yIf I had a cat or dog that was outside a lot I would be concerned about ticks. The dogs lay on the ground and a cat roams through bushes. A flea latches on and drops off on your bed. Then they latch onto you and you may not even notice them for awhile. My sister's kids play outside a lot with lots of trees and bushes. They sometimes get ticks on them. And some of those little critters don't want to let go once they find a good place to dine. And some of the tiny ticks you can hardly see or it may look like a freckle.

I have two cats. They both start out in bed with me then sometime in the middle of the night they venture somewhere

else. Unless it's Christmas time - in that case they're both under the tree.

+1 yI have two and they change a lot.
The older one sometimes likes to sleep under the covers in our bed. At other times she likes to sleep in a fluffy kitty box we have. Very often she sleeps on our crotch (even my wife or mine). She doesn't like to sleep too close to our faces for some reason. If we get close to her face-wise, she ends up moving away to our lap.
The younger one sometimes sleeps on our chest or pretty much anywhere in the house that's elevated. One of her favorite places is on top of a cat tower. She seems to like sleeping in high places but when she sleeps on our chest, she doesn't mind resting her face on our necks.31 Reply- +1 y

m +1 yI have two cats, and they sleep anywhere they want really, my bed, their own beds, my office... the other bedroom, the guest rooms, they can even go out of the house and sleep at the backyard, or the roofs if they wish to, and they can come back inside the house if they need to

+1 yWherever I am. They can sleep wherever they choose but get very upset if they are not near me. They even have specific spots they like to lay. Most of the time they each pick a shoulder to curl next to. On occasion they try to lay on my belly but that does not last long as the other cat gets irritated when this happens. If I am sick then they will both lay on my chest. Both cats combined are big enough to cover my entire chest and they will tolerate laying next to each other to comfort me when I am sick.

+1 yOutside the bedroom, or in a crate with their own comfy bed in the bedroom. Their choice. If the cats were allowed in I wake like a pretzel. Or they are all piled on top if really cold. I usually hide hot water bottles under blankets on the couch before bed. In the morning they are laying all over them.
10 Reply460 opinions shared on Other topic. My rabbits sleep tucked away somewhere. They have several spots in my place that they nap and sleep in. So you can find them sleeping in one of those spots. I use to live with a couple roommates. Both had a dag and cat. Those four always managed to open my bedroom door and pile into bed with me. I didn't mind it. I just thought it was funny as hell because they where not my dogs or cats and they always ended up piled up in my bed with me.
00 ReplyAll over my bed, or anywhere else that they want to.
There is usually a cat wrapped around my head, another cat around my feet and two dogs who roam from sharing my pillow to being around my feet, under the quilt.
Where the cats and dogs sleep varies according to the temperature.00 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Other topic. Before my dog passed with me, some cats I had slept with me, the 2 now 1 sleeps in his bed, the other one either in bed with my wife, or in her bed in my wife's room.
They both will make appearances in my room, Oscar for food and or pets, and Callie for pets.

+1 yThe cat walks over to his cat friends next house.
The doggo's - ... the boy prefers it right in front of the (closed) bedroom door, and the girl uses one of two of her favourite places in the living room.
Our doors to ''outside'' are always open, so: if 'nature calls' they just put their presents into the garden where I can admire them in the morning :)
I think that both of them seek a place that is ''sheltered and cool'' - it's the 'tropics', here.00 Reply - 6K opinions shared on Other topic.

On my keyboard, on the couch, ontop of me, under my legs, on the dresser, on a pair of jeans on the floor, on my bfs computer chair, in his cat tree, in the bathroom sink, in the wardrobe, ontop of the wardrobe.00 Reply
+1 yShe starts out at the very foot of the bed and then ends up on my back, or if I'm on the couch instead of bed, she wiggles up between me and the back of the couch to snuggle in.
