How do you react when you visit someone else’s residence and their dogs bark their heads off at you and rush you upon entering their property?

I can usually get them to quiet down, or at least bark less... one thing I do is to get as close as possible to the gate or door (when it is safe) and that is when the dog gets louder, and I will try to SHHHHH them, which they don't like so they keep their excitement... and then I just lower myself to their level and remain calm and try to calmly shhhh them again... more often than not, this works... they either get confused or relaxed, lol
my uncle taught me this
for the times when it doesn't work, I just turn around but stand in the same spot calmly, just ignore them, if I cannot make it better then at least I won't make it worse lmao...
I'm a dog owner and grew up with dogs, so most dogs don't bother me, especially big ones. They're just reacting to your presence and letting you know that's they're home. A lot of them are also trying to get your attention so you can say hi. However, I absolutely despise little dogs. I'm a service plumber, so I'm always going into people's homes. The big dogs are absolutely amazing, but most little dogs are overly aggressive and try to bite me. The owners pay more for the convenience issue I now have to deal with.
I experienced it many times lol... because sometimes I walk on the pavement ,
I just move quickly, and watch my back... it's nice having an umbrella incase I need to use it haha,... but I've never had to... thankfully
I don't know how I'd react if being attacked by an animal because I'm not a violent person. Any lashes I'd like to direct at the owner.
Deliver some sushi to me won't you? 😜
maybe if i receive a big tip ;)
That's yours
good. i will get it to you quickly
but really thats a good tip for you. just be generous with your tips to the drivers and your food should arrive much quicker ;)
Hehe noted
If they’re big dogs, I stand still, let the dogs sniff me and wait for the owner to get their dogs under control. If they’re small dogs, I bend over and give them lots of pats 😁
you had me at 'bend over'
sorry my mind went there :o
Haha 😉

You have to assert dominance. I have never owned a dog, but I see many people walking their dogs were I live, and plenty of them have barked at me before. I either stare right back, or walk by them like they are not even there. If you show any fear, they will probably attack.
I usually have dog treats in my pocket for my own dog, that usually makes them get real friendly with me.
Personally I don't think I even need a front door or porch, would like to just turn it into a wall and only use my door behind my gate. Then again they don't deliver anything to your house here, you have to pick up packages or mail at the post office. Way too far out of range for any food delivers.
Never stare or face at a dog with this behavior. You want to be as least a threat as possible. Dogs speak in body language first, owners commands second. Look away, turn your side to face them, drop your shoulders and force yourself to relax. Let them sniff you.
This will give you least chance of attack as it tells them you are not a threat in their own language.
Some dogs with history or medical issues will bite anyway.
(Been training working dogs since the 90’s.)
Growing up I was afraid of dogs. And when I was out running in the neighborhood I was super uncomfortable because of the possibility dogs would run close to bark at me for running past.
I would always jump in surprise, and it was so uncomfortable, I was also a little scared.
I really hate when it happens.
Depends the vibes I get from the dog. If they're friendly, I'll play for a bit because I love dogs.
If it's clear they're aggressive, fuck your drop at the door instruction. The edge of the property line *is* your door if you have an aggressive and poorly trained dog.
I've used to have people's dogs running loose and I'm on my walking program and all I could do was stand still cause they were coming after me, now when I was a baby about 2 years old, I was in a stroller, and mom was walking me in the Chess St Park and this dog jumped on my stroller to this day, I have a fear of certain dogs it never leaves me.
I guess dogs must like me, b’cause I’ve never been “rushed” by dogs. They usually walk up, sniff my hand and basically rub-up against me, as if to say “Hey, Where’s my head- scratch, my back-pat, or my belly-rub?”
I rarely have this happen, I'm either not very threatening or animals like me. When it does, I try to go timid and approachable, no sudden movements, and wait for the owner to make the introductions to calm the animal.
"Sorry, bro. You were a good friend."
*flips out knife and goes to war with the dogs*
That's why I don't go other people's houses, I'm afraid of dogs. If I had your job I would do the same that you do.
Barking dogs just want to play, it's the silent ones you've got to worry about. I pay more attention to their body language, it's a better indicator.
I don't mind dogs, but I'm not really a dog person so it can be very annoying, I just ignore them as best I can.
I don't pay them any mind. If I know they're friendly I wait until they settle down before petting them.
Oddly enough I've only ever met one other person's dog. And she only barked at me cause she was jealous I was making out with her owner and she wanted attention lol
I stand and stare at them until the owner takes them. Dogs can smell and sense fear
Stare back calmly at them and firmly tell them to shut up. That tends to work for me at least.
Depends on how big the dog is if its a bigger dog this will scare me if its a roy small dog im not to concerned
I throw my poodle dog at the prostitutes that pass by on the street, from time to time he bites one.
The first thing I would think is to not stare at them
I be in my head like damn please do not come closer to me n embarase me.
I don't like dogs either
so what d you do in this scenario?
It would piss me off
ok so do you try to avoid them or what do you do?
Yes, I try to avoid them, but sometimes they scare me. Hopefully no dog has bitten my midriff yet.
I try to keep my distance.
brings something to feed them
I usually just pet them
Try to stay calm and let it know I’m friendly.
I would do the same as you
