How do you handle asshole neighbors?

I live in the suburbs now. I'm originally from a bad inner city neighborhood, bit live in a low violence good neighborhood now. The one thing I noticed right off the bat, are these guys who got money, got too much to say. The neighborhood is two streets. It'll be hard to explain, but let me try my best. Think of a backwards P. My street is the straight street, with people of average income. The curved part is a different street with a bunch of rich people living in big ass houses. Now, both my street and their street connect to a main road that is perpendicular to them. So if you take both mine or their street, you can get out to the main road. Most people back there are nice, but there's this one asshole I'm about to punch in his mouth. First incident occured when he was behind me, I'm trying to pull into my street, and he started honking at me because I guess I didn't turn into my street at 40 mph like he would've preferred. Second time was yesterday. I was doing 15 mph on a street that has a 25 mph speed limit. There's no kids outside, but I go slow in case there might be. I'm checking out the new houses they're building. This cocksucker wants to shout "slow down you idiot". I had my window down so I heard him. What do I do? Step on my brakes, reverse my car, pull back up to him, and put it in park. I step outside of the car, and ask him what he said. He said he didn't say anything. I said "are you sure? I distinctly heard ""slow down you idiot"" by this time his daughter camr out, so he picks her up, and then decides to get brave and says I was going too fast, etc. Again, I was only going 15, which is literally a school zone speed. He's got an attitude. I tell him why don't he put his daughter down and step onto the street for a second. He starts name calling, goes inside. I wait for a couple minutes for him come out but he don't. I don't get this dude. How do y'all deal with bad neighbors?

This happens to us all. I live in a southern tourist city so naturally, all the boomers here have nothing to do so they have all the time in the world to never take their corvettes over 15 mph. Because they’d rather be seen in it than get anywhere with it. So I often get dirty looks from people when I decide to ride their ass, cut them off, or pass them. If the speed limit is 55 and you’re consistently going 45, I’m passing you. That’s just all there is to it. It’s tempting to get into confrontations but beyond a honk or a appropriately times middle finger, it’s just not worth a fight. You just have to try to ignore it and move on. I think you getting out of your car to confront the guy was over the line. Yeah, he was the idiot. But sometimes you just gotta let the other guy be an idiot.

I stay away and try not to escalate things. I have one neighbor who is the neighborhood bully. His wife was riding my bumper on our street. I simply pulled over and waved her by. It took a little maneuvering for her because she was so close to my car, but I felt better not having her aggressive behavior behind me for the 1/2 mile to our driveways.

Do you want to get into trouble with your confrontations? IGNORE THEM unless what they do is relevant in a legal sense. Then inform the proper authorities.

I would know. My neighbors are so far away they have to drive over.
