Who is a scientist?

A scientist is someone who has a Phd degree?

Science strictly put is to look at a whole and pick it apart so it makes sense. If you are cooking and it pours over, after which you try less water, less heat and alike to find the cause of it that is being a scientist at its heart. You are employing a study to acquire knowledge. That definition is dated but still speaks to the root of it.

Of course to be taken seriously a certain level of skill would be expected. However anyone conducting research professionally can likely make the claim, ideally prefaced with whar type of scientist they are so as to actually be a useful descriptor.. It is after all an umbrella term and you are not claiming a doctorate in theoretical particle physics.

Not necessarily... I'm a forensic scientist and I don't have a Phd.

Nope, i don't think so.
Its a sign of academic succes or academic education.

But the mindset of a scientist is more important, being curious and try to explain what he/she doesn't know... yet.

I have to strongly disagree, espacially as the PHD is rather new. The US first introduced the PHD in 1861.

Great scientists like from ancient greece, who founded 99.9% of the math we know never had a PHD.
