How do you answer your phone?

Question

How do you answer your phone when someone calls you? General and or friends? The tea kettle went off this morning. I lifted it and said, “You rang, darling?”  Then had a gut punch. It was how my mum used to answer the phone with friends or family to be silly. Hadn’t heard that for years and years. Long before her dementia. It makes me ache for her so badly.  I usually switch it up. I’ve been known to say “What do you want?” as a greeting to close people. Always gets a chuckle. How about you?

I only answer calls from my contacts so I always know who's calling me when I answer. I will therefore greet them according to if they ate family or friends. For example for my kids I usually answer "hey son, or hey sweetie" or if my daughter "hey baby or hi BabyGirl"
If it's one of my friends I usually answer like "well hey (name of friend) how are you? I've been thinking of you, how's your family, etc"
If it's my Guy, I'll answer something sweet or sexy to make him feel appreciated.

I guess it really depends on who, what I'm doing, where I am, and who I'm with. If it's one of my best friends calling I will say “HIII!” If it's my boyfriend calling I will say “Hi babe/love!” If it's my mom or dad I will answer by saying “hello?” For any other family members, I will also say “hello?” or maybe “Hi ___.” Unknown callers can suck it, I don’t answer and send them to voicemail immediately.

I have a few lines for work...

so I usually go with "Davis's Office speaking, yes?" if I am to serve...

when it is those I work with therefore familiar, I just go with "yeah.." and wait for them to go on

now, for the personal line in which I know that it has to be friends or family... I just say "yep...(it´s me)" and then I wait for them, lol

My older sister who calls me 9 times a day for no reason: WHAT DO YOU WANT? and it usually ends with a "you know, you could have just texted me this."

If it’s a friend I usually answer with ‘hey, how’s it going’ or ‘hey, you alright?’

Unknown numbers I rarely answer as many are scam calls but if I do it’s usually a scared and confused ‘hello? Who is this?’

I speak french to unknown numbers and they USUALLY aren't prepared. Did have some kid saying "Hey grandpa" and he actually knew french. I freeze up because I'm 35% in my french lessons.

When it's my friend I say "Yes bark". When it's my cousin I say "Yes speak" When it's my mom or dad I say "Ha (Ha means yes in Hindi) Mumma/Papa" When it's a unknown number I say "Hello".

I only answer text messages these days.
If my phone actually rings I feel anxiety like I'm under attack. I throw the cell and run.
I legitimately feel offended sometimes when one of my friends tries to call or video chat. LoL!

My business phone main number is often forwarded to my phone after hours, so during those periods I answer with “(name) funeral home, this is Saoirse, how may I help you?”
For calls I know are personal it’s usually something like:
“Hello, you have five seconds to state your purpose.”

With caller ID being standard, I usually answer by addressing the caller personally. "Hi Dusty!"  If it's business or unknown, I put on my professional voice and just say, "Hello?"
