Just take cold showers. Air conditioners charge the air with positive ions, terrible for our health. It's the opposite of what happens after a thunderstorm. At least minimize the usage, and efficiency won't play a big role.

in germany, an air conditioner is a very rare thing. most households don't have one. i don't have one either. in the summer, we just sweat. cause we are concerned for the planet ;)

I use a York which is a whole house AC unit. Not bad and it's affordable and it does not burn much energy efficiency
