Is being the "fourth worst" of something really that bad?

Kind of a dumb question, but if out of say, twenty guys, you're in the bottom four. Like, only three guys are worse off than you. Is that really all that bad? Or is it not that bad?

only 11 players will make it to football soccer field pitch... three will be substitutes, so there is usually 14 to 15 main players... and the other five wait for weeks till there are injuries

if you're the third goalie, nevermind... you will be in the bench for years to come
