Do you believe that everyone is born with the strength to stand when everything has failed?

Okay so,

Me and my best friend have a rather hot ongoing conversation now for a little while. I believe that everyone reguardless of who they are have the inner strength, inherint, in them to stand up and fight when life is at its lowest. My friend believes that not everyone has that strength and that is depends on the person.

Now I was not a strong individual in my youth, in fact I was downright a wuss. I let people and life beat me down constantly and I never fought back. It wasn't until I was laying on the ground crying and wanting to give up that I found an inner strength that had been hidden inside me. That strength helped me to stand back up, to fight and to live and to make it to a place where I can now breath.

I truly do believe we all have that strength inside of us, it just takes going down to your lowest to find it. My friend on the other hand chooses to believe that the strength I talk of is developed on a person by person basis, or in other words you decide to build that strength yourself conciously or subconciously and find it and use when you need it most.

So what do all my fellow GAG's think? Is inner strength something we all have in us from the start or something just certain people build up?
