Believe it or not, your washer and dryer have filters where things can wind up in. When our washer was draining poorly we had a repair person come out and he showed us what was in our filter. there were coins, hair pins, and of course a sock or two. You would not think something like a sock could get out of the insides of your washer but it can. So if your washer is slow at draining your filter might be full or lost items. I was at a laundromat one time doing so wash and the cleaning lady was emptying the filters and there was $250 in cash in one of the filters. I'm sure someone had no idea where they had lost their money at as it probably had been in their pocket.

For me it's every time. I put my socks in the washer, take out all of the cloths. Check for my socks and can't find them anywhere. Then I end up buying a new pair that also ends up getting lost in the laundry. I don't know what happens but it's weird.
It's part of their escape plan. Somehow, they find a way to hide during laundry and, when you're not looking, they escape and run out the door. Sadly, most of them get run over by cars and trucks and are left dead on the side of the road!! None of them ever make it back so, they CAN'T warn the others of the danger so, there's ALWAYS gonna be dead escaped socks on the side of the road because they just don't know any better. They have no examples to go by. They just know that their friend hasn't come back and figure, they must've made it to some really wonderful place and that gives THEM the incentive to try to escape, too.
Of course, socks always disappear in the laundry.

For sure. I think what actually happens is they get staticky and cling to other items of clothing. I always shake out my t-shirts when I’m short a sock after a load of laundry. Usually that’s where it is. I think we often don’t realize they’re in there, we wear them, the static wears off, and they just fall out somewhere random during the day. That’s my guess anyway, haha.
Why
Cherry are you the one taking my socks they are like gloves I lose the right hand glove all the timeWashing machines used to swallow small things like socks, so many of us have lost socks while doing laundry. but this problem disappeared in washing machines produced later. washing machines no longer swallow socks like they used to. Those who lose their socks today probably lose them because they go under the bed or when they hang their clothes on the balcony to dry.
The clothes dryer (on the left) has kidnapped dozen of my socks. I am now awaiting a ransom note.
I thought so, but then later found it inside a pants leg... LOL
Yes it makes me mad lol, just yesterday I lost one of my favorite pair of hospital socks, very comfortable and now one went missing….
Yes, I just got one pair misplaced and it drove me crazy
😂All the time 😂I keep saying there's a sock thief in the house 😂
I have countless odd socks 😂yeah no show sock liners sometimes get stuck inside of things like sweatpants. I try to just let them sit out to dry instead of throwing them all in the dryer.

nope, or not yet...
when a clothing of mine is missing... I know the cats must have gotten it, and they do that sometimes, lol Mine sometimes hang up beneath the rim in the top of the washer drum and then magically turn up after the next wash.
No, I never lost any socks. What's with the pervy sex questions?
I don't lose them! I just... like to put them somewhere else and search for them when doing laundry...
It's so common it's a cliche. Mostly they become separated before the laundry goes into the wash.
Yes. A red one… my white taekwondo laundry went in next… I was pink for class.
I think there’s a sock eating monster living in every drier!
Always. We only find one sock and hardly any pairs lol
It's not only common but it's turning my life upside down.
Yeah, I just keep solo socks in my sock drawer because I figure that I will lose another kne, or one will get a hole in it. Then the solo sock now has a partner
More common than you think! It nearly happens 50% of times. It sometimes takes minutes to find them again
