Why are some people against others killing and eating squirrels?

I watched a few videos on how to kill, clean and cook squirrels. It was interesting lol.

They’re cute

Why eat squirrels if there’s other options like chicken, beef, pork, etc

The eating of squirrels was critical to survival in rural parts of the US. After all, it's not like there are random cows all over the country to be hunted. People did kill deer and other animals for meat and, even to this day, killing a deer is a lot cheaper than buying the same amount of meat even in chicken.

Anyway, when deer or other larger animals were in short supply, hunting squirrel was easier because there are so many of them.

Nowadays, you really don't need to eat squirrel because there is enough access to meat through markets that, unless you cannot afford meat or have access to a market, there's no need to kill squirrel for food.

I've eaten squirrel once and I will simply say this:
There's no prime rib on a squirrel and you have to eat a shitload of them to be satisfied.
But, to eat them, you pretty much have to fry them and, well, fried food pretty much tastes the same no matter what is being fried.

Yes that and bunnies I like watching the hunt of bunnies. I feel more bad eating a sheep cause it just trusts you so much lol.

My parents felt bad for the poor squirrel and they both think they shouldn’t hunt them for their meat.

In my country it’s illegal to kill wildlife because they played an important role in nature. It’s possible a person caught killing animals can end up in prison.

Yes I think so too. After I posted a question about me wanting to eat squirrels, there were some people saying there’s something wrong with me lol. I find squirrels cute but after some people saying it tasted weird I will just admire the cute squirrels.
