This reminds me of the TV show on Saturday mornings "Crocodile Hunter" with Steve? He loved all animals but especially the crocodiles. When I say he LOVED animals and nature it couldn't be more true!
Sadly, he was making a film that was mostly under water. That's when he couldn't see the big Sting Ray - the fish that have this huge stinger for self defense. The sting Ray felt movement around him too close, and fired the huge stinger right in Steve's chest. They had filmed Steve trying to pull the big stinger out of his chest, but it didn't come out and he died right there.
No one was able to see the film of him struggling to stay alive because it was too horrific!
So, in this case, I think the opposite was true.

He was a tourist swimming at a holiday resort so he probably thought he was safe. The real blame lies with the local government who happily let tourists swim in dangerous waters.

I don’t know about “deserve”…. but when you go in the ocean as a human, you sign the rights to your life away. The oceans are not where we’re meant to be. It’s just simply not our zone, so we’re extremely vulnerable in there. I almost bought a boogie board yesterday, then I saw this video last night. Glad I don’t have to waste 15 minutes in line at the customer service desk returning it today😂

I know it’s technically too late for me to answer this question but I’m gonna give my two. Cents. Do they deserve to die no, get critically hurt probably we have this issue in the United States where stupid people decide to go into Yellowstone National Park and try to pet bison. A lot of people get critically, hurt, and killed. I would say it’s unfair for an animal to die, because they are reacting on natural instinct people like this guy are you stupid first off if you’re ever attacked by a shark bite it in the nose do not run and taste terrible, but you will survive with minor bites, I know what you’re doing in the situation I have personally seen people get attacked by elk in Yellowstone national park, and because I threw my hands up and stuff the way the elk did not attack me and I was feet away from the two girls that got a warning shot. It took me two years for a mother raccoon to allow me to feed her babies by hand at my old house while she ate dog food from a dog bowl it’s not like I approached her she knew I could be trusted because she saw me putting the food out for 2 years. There a difference between interacting with wild animals and respecting there space left them come to you. Vs you just coming up to them and invading there space. Even domesticated animals are like this, you got a dog barking at you defending its home the best thing to do is sit down yourself because at that point your not a threat and the dog or cat will come up to check you out. Any animal that’s not use to you, you gotta respect. Most can sense a threat and not act but will give you a warning before attacking stupid people, continue to try to pet a wild animal
