The U. S. DEA will move to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug. Your thoughts?

The DEA’s proposal, which still must be reviewed by the White House Office of Management and Budget, would recognize the medical uses of cannabis and acknowledge it has less potential for abuse than some of the nation’s most dangerous drugs. However, it would not legalize marijuana outright for recreational use.

It moves pot to Schedule III, alongside ketamine and some anabolic steroids, following a recommendation from the federal Health and Human Services Department. After the public-comment period the agency would publish the final rule.

So yeah it wouldn't be legalized but will be considered much much less dangerous than other drugs out there.

This is like 4 decades overdue, Nixon’s campaign and the bullshit “war on drugs” from him and presidents following has just been a means of silencing people he didn’t want to influence the public. They knew the drugs weren’t dangerous but they made it that way because they knew they could use it to imprison hippies and black panthers, and that stigma of it being a “gateway” drug has always been bullshit but it followed it anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason they’re thinking to change its class now is bc a lot of politicians are using it themselves.

It's a BS political move to score political points in November. If Biden was really serious/cared about Marijuana, he would have pushed to legalize it nation wide when he took office, not wait till right before reelection to reclassify it. I cannot support marijuana being reclassified when it needs to be 100% legal nation wide the same as cigarettes and alcohol.
