For all the real pilots here, what is the call sign that you were assigned to?
You don't get to choose your callsigns or nicknames in the military; they are given to you either as a derogatory/endearing reference, or assigned based on the unit/mission. Even the "cool" ones usually have a not so glamorous story behind them treated like an inside joke, and kept internal to the unit by people who know each other. Most of those nicknames we gave each other in the army related to someone's hobbies outside of work, or some distinguishing personality quirk. I had a few over the years, the main one the stuck was just the name of the city I was from. Callsigns usually have some kind of methodology to them. In the Army for example, a callsign was usually taken from the company name. The company name starts with the same letter as the company's letter designation, so for example:Aco: AssassinBco: ButcherCco: Cobra (Sometimes callsigns that start with an "S" are permitted on a unit by unit basis) Dco: DestroyerHHC: HazardAnd then a number following one of those callsigns would indicate who in the chain of command (5, 6, 7, or 8) and possibly an additional modifier for someone attached to them, usually a letter with the NATO phonetic alphabet. For platoon and squad comms, which aren't usually on the same net as the above, platoons are designed as "red," "white," or "blue," and numbers that follow would refer to the lieutenant, platoon sergeant and squad leaders, and using the squad leader's callsign with an "alpha," "bravo," or (rarely) "charlie" addition would refer to the team under that squad leader. And much of that went out the window when we attached to USSOCOM.
Aviation doesn’t work that way. Scheduled airline flights are addressed by the carrier and flight number and respond wth the same.
“Alaska 17, turn left to 135, descend to 10,000.“ “Alaska 17, left to 135, descending to 10,000.”
Other aircraft are addressed by their tail number, e. g. “N43725”.
Thank you!🙂🙂👍
I like this question, but I have no idea of what would be my name.

If I was a pilot, I wold be okay with Silver Fox or Silver Eagle.
There are no call signs given to pilots,
it’s down to the flying programme for each flight.
for example a four ship in the morning might be Dagger 1-4
the same pilots in afternoon in a 6 Ship may be given Pirate 1 - 4 and other 2 of the flight given call signs Cutlass 1-2.
The reason is mainly down to combined packages.
Everyone needs to know that Joker is part of the ECM - suppression flight, that Tigger is the Tanker, that mamba is the attack package etc
having someone called Maverick from the US and 1 from France and 1 from UK would be crazy.
NATO do or did control all call signs.
Certain squadrons tend to use the same types depending on mission etc.
Examples as per attached.

Lol your call signs gonna be dog shit one… you get call signs before you even leave the academy and usually their from something embarrassing you've done.
I think callsigns are given to you by the other pilots right? Mine would probably be "Dumbass" or something based on the absentminded things I get up to when my brain isn't on 😂
I can’t speak for the military, but that’s not how it works in the civilian world. Your plane will have a call sign - serious of numbers and letters - and that’s it. The pilot is irrelevant
He’s been watching too many scifi movies. 🤓
It would be the tail number of the aircraft I use, of course.
As a ''personal'' nick - perhaps ''Sniggles''.
Gummy Bear... Drunk with the squadron and I wolfed down a huge amount of gummy bears, only to puke them all up almost immediately... yeah...
