This is what lithium mines look like:

We're already doing this to get the lithium for the batteries in our laptops and cell phones. An electric car will use 100+ times as much lithium, and this just isn't scalable to replace all ICE vehicles with electrics. The HOPE is that we find better, more sustainable materials to make batteries EVENTUALLY, but this idea that electric cars are "just better for the environment" is a lie.
Without nuclear power, we still have to burn fossil fuels to generate the electricity, and we still have to make batteries, which use these toxic heavy metals that have to be mined out of the ground with absolutely MASSIVE equipment, which itself burns massive amounts of fossil fuels and does huge damage to the planet.
NEVER FORGET that most of the companies and organizations that underpin the "environmental movement" make massive amounts of money - much of it directly from the government in the form of grants and contracts - by pushing "environmentally friendly" things like electric cars - and as long as they are making tens or hundreds of millions, those organizations don't REALLY care if the thing that's making them all that money is ACTUALLY environmentally friendly. What matters is that they maintain their power and their incomes, as as long as most people don't have to see these pictures, and as long as most people are too dumb to understand that their electric car just moved the pollution source 10 miles down the road, then they'll get to keep getting rich and powerful and they'll still get to look down and talk down to regular people, because they "have the moral high-ground" for pushing "environmentally friendly solutions." This is why they wind people up about the planet dying in 2 years "if we don't pass this bill (that funds my organization half a billion over a 5 years) RIGHT NOW!"
Even factoring in that fuel and the energy needed in the factories and the fuel of a coal or gas plant used to charge a BEV you *still* end up saving a *lot* of CO2 with BEVs vs ICE cars within the lifetime of the car.
That said, the above point is why there are cases where a plug-in hybrid actually will be better for the environment then a BEV.
And of course a small battery BEV is better then a large battery one (rent a ICE car or plugin hybrid for long distance driving)
I'm always skeptical of figures quoted in memes but I would suspect someone somewhere has worked out the long tern benefit of the resulting battery outweighs the short term cost of the digger.
It makes perfect sense to these insane far left people like AOC and her Green New Deal Biden is implementing. I wonder if they know about this?

I have been saying for a while now that the batteries in the electric car will make it worse for the environment than an internal combustion car. I wish it was not the case but facts are facts.
This shows how deceptive something is in isolation. Context is everything.
It definitely makes sense to me. It's called cherry-picking Data in order to push a narrative
Oh shit we need to stop mining these and instead keep mining oil until we run out
Wow that is interesting
I guess that’s why the batteries are so expensive
hasbro was right about those micromachines!
You should see the dump trucks that mine silver
