Who is the most famous person that you have met? How did y'all meet?

Hmmm…probably either Bobby Orr or Dave Chappelle. I guess these days Chappelle is the more famous of the two, but Bobby Orr still remains one of the best to play the sport of hockey, and he hasn’t played in like 45 years.

Anyway, I met Bobby Orr at the old Boston Garden when I was 13 or 14. The company my dad worked for had a skybox suite there and he finagled some tickets around the time of my birthday for a Bruins game. We were let down a private hallway and put on an elevator. There was even an elevator operator, haha. I’m staring at my sneakers in this crowded elevator, and I hear the operator say “hey Bobby, Derek wants to see you?” A voice says “Derek who?”, and the operator says “Sanderson.” I’m like “wait, WHAT?”, because Derek Sanderson was an ex-Bruin from before my time but was the color analyst on the local broadcast, so I knew who he was. I look up in the direction of the second voice, and there’s #4 himself, in the flesh. I was legitimately starstruck. He sees me gawking at him, and as the elevator door opens and he gets off, he smiles, gives me an elbow nudge in the ribs, and says “hey kid! Enjoy the game!”, and then he was gone. I’m just like “holy shit, Bobby Orr just elbowed me in the ribs!🤩”, lmfao.

Then with Chappelle…my friends and I saw him do stand-up (I’ve seen him four times now👍) at a small venue, after Half Baked came out but before Chappelle’s Show, so he was still just starting to get famous. All the other times I’ve seen him, he was a superstar. Big venue, and he’s just gone at the end of the set. The first one, he hung out and mingled with the crowd for a few minutes. So we go up and talk to him, and he was cool, and I asked if he wanted to smoke some weed with us. He says to some guy with him, “Tony, we got blaze time?”, and the dude kind of reluctantly is like “yeah, yeah…” So my friend goes out to his car to get my weed and pipe, but Dave was talking to other people in the meantime, and we ended up waiting a minute before he got loose. I go back up to him to get him, and we’re about to go when this Tony dude is like “nah, we gotta get on the road, bro.” I’m like “you sure? I got it right here…” and held up the bag of weed. His eyes got big, he clasped both hands around my hand holding the weed, and he says in a funny Chappelle-esque voice “can I hold this?” I was just like “hey, for you? I can definitely break you off a joint.”, so Dave DID smoke my weed, I just didn’t get to do it with him. That would’ve been all time, I’m crushed to this day that I came so close and it didn’t happen. Fuckin’ Tony lmfao.

Well in my home country my uncle is famous. Not worldwide of course but he’s incredibly well known there. Through him I’ve met other famous people from back home. Again, not famous worldwide like Justin Timberlake or Selena Gomez.
