Can a woman naturally get pregnant after 55?

Question

I read that men can father most of there lives till 60 or 70 something... How long can a woman do it? And can she conceive naturally without fertility treatment or any medical help...

From a medical point of view, pregnancies after age 35 are considered "geriatric pregnancies", and fertility typically starts to fall off pretty steeply after 35. As always, a few exceptions exist - you hear about women getting pregnant in their early 40s, but that's rare - even women taking expensive fertility treatments usually struggle, and often fail - to get pregnant after 40, especially if they've not had children prior. Most women experience menopause in their mid-to-late 40s after a decade of fertility decline, so a woman getting pregnant at 55 would be an incredibly rare exception - the kind that gets news stories written about them.

A few years ago, a woman gave birth at 57, and it was national news, because it was so rare. The oldest known woman to give birth in history was 59. One thing that tends to be common about these older-than-average births is that the women in question have had lots of children prior, so perhaps their bodies have responded to those multiple pregnancies by "extending store hours."

Some maybe. But they'll turn 70 before kid leaves school, is that really fair on the kid? I mean I've just turned 40, have a 1 Yr old and a 2 Yr old and I feel run down. Couldn't imagine doing at 55

No, she can't. At the age of 55 is already in menopause so she's no longer fertile. She can try a treatment but a pregnancy is very unlikely to happen.

If she doesn't have a period, how is she going to get pregnant? Even if she did, the chances of getting pregnant are really low for a woman that age

My uncle is two years older than I , and younger than my oldest sister.  Grandma was 54 grandpa 67..  It's still not a good idea for a women past 35..
