+1 yKind of a lot, lmao. I don’t know the number, really, I’d have to think about it. Plus there’s levels to it: some were just a quick exchange that stopped naturally or got broken up, or I just snuffed somebody😂;some were a little longer; some were in the line of work when I was a bouncer; some were on-field/on-ice altercations in sports…. I guess I’ve done a lot of scuffling overall lmao. Off the top, I’d probably estimate maybe like 20-30 instances of actual punches being exchanged, and now that I’m thinking of it, most of the extended fights were when I was a kid, when we actually squared up and boxed it out, and that was always in one of those stupid “meet me after school by the flagpole” things, haha. As a young adult, it was more just like “oh shit, the shit just jumped off” and you’re in a bar fight or a brawl at a party all of a sudden. Then semipro football had some brawls in games and after games too. Only one of those got REAL crazy, and one of my coaches had me TARGETED the second it started boiling over, he knows I’m a live wire😂, so I ended up restrained for most of that one. One of my teammates suckered a kid at a bar when we were out celebrating a playoff win, which I didn’t endorse but was trying to diffuse the situation, and the sucker-punched guy’s friend got slick with me while I was trying to extend an olive branch and settle shit down, and he pushed me aggressively, so I put him down real quick but had to run because cops were showing up by that point. That was like 12 years ago, that was my last legit fight. Then I just had a hockey fight in my beer league a few months ago, which I was super stoked to get on the rink cameras and be able to make clips and gifs with slow-mo and shit…. best thing to ever happen in my life, lmfao, a childhood dream fulfilled😂

It takes a special kind of idiot to get in a fight with the fucking goalie lmao 08 Reply- +1 y
@spartan55 haha, yeah, that’s me, #44. We had some beef over the course of a couple of games. So…he’s an absolute punk and does all sorts of cheap shit (whole league thinks he’s a lunatic but goalies are precious resources —no goalie, no game— so he doesn’t really get held accountable), saw him start with two other dudes in a couple games with other teams, already had an eye on him. I get to playing his team, I’m in front of the net looking for tips or rebounds and to screen the goalie. I’m totally cool with pushing and shoving from the goalie or defensemen, I expect it when I’m there, and I love the contact. High threshold for all that. But this kid does this thing where he hooks your foot and rips your skate out from underneath you, causing you to fall. I’m ok with a little gamesmanship but that’s over the line for me.
So he does that, the play goes the other way, and I give him a look as I get up, he’s like “what are you looking at?”, I glared at him as I was skating backwards and he puts his arms out and yells “come on!”, but I snapped out of it and realized I’m offside and my team has the puck again, so it ended there, besides a mutual mean mug in the handshake line.
We play again three weeks later, at one point I was chasing the puck and was tangled up with the defenseman, and almost slid into this goalie kid. He’s “settle down, kid!” to me, and just given our history, I didn’t like it. I was like “you settle down” (sick comeback🤦♂️😂), and skated off, but then he kept prodding me when I was near him. - +1 y
@spartan55 So the last shift of the game with like 45 seconds left and down 2 goals, I was just like “fuck it, let’s see if he wants to do something, enough talking and staring.” So I immediately crashed the net to see if he’d come at me in a manner I didn’t like, and sure enough, he pushed me. So I gave him a little shove back on the way past him, then I lost my balance a bit from the defenseman pushing me from behind, and I went to the side of the net like a baby giraffe lmao. The D-man gave me one more push in my lower back, and the goalie was at that same side of the net, I thought he did it. So I got mad and was like “what the fuck” and gave him a little push in the shoulder. The final buzzer sounded and he jumped right up yelling “you want to fuckin’ go?” I had some chirp all ready to go about how he was too small and I’d never let him fight me, and credit to him, he was just about that action and swung on me before I could even fix my mouth to say it. Didn’t think he’d have the balls, good on him😂 But that was the end of his contributions to the fight, and you can see I peeled his helmet off with the first swipe, hit him and dropped him to his knees with the whack-a-mole punch lmao, he reached up as he stood up to probably try to get my helmet off, I anticipated that exact move, and was able to biff him across the face in real tight to sit him down. Not a toe-to-toe slugfest, and I award myself zero points for beating a kid who’s giving up like 5 inches and 40 lbs to me, but it was a fun experience all the same😂
We had squashed it though, I apologized the next week for my side of it, brought a case of beer for his team, and we’ve probably played like four times since, and nothing…. until literally last night. I ran into him at one point by accident, and I was like “my bad, you ok?”, and he said he was fine, and I even gave him a pat on the back as I skated off. Thought we were cool. - +1 y
@spartan55 Then later on he trips me, same way as the first one last season. I said “Really?” Then I missed a shot wide, and I was cursing myself out loud as I skated past him, and he goes “WHOOOOOP!”, another thing he did to me last season. Last season I think I told him to shut up, this season I tried to laugh it off like I was in on it with him. I’m trying so hard to be cool, haha. But then I was chasing a puck that went behind the net, I went close past the side of his net, and he stuck his stick out to trip me. It actually spun his featherweight ass around too, lmao, but that’s actually dangerous for me, I could go headfirst into the boards and break my neck in the worst case scenario. I tried to stay cool because we were trying to tie the game up, but I said something like “are we going to have to have Round 2?” or something like that. No response from him, he was playing it off like nothing happened.
So I think if he starts next game I’m going to tell the referee that he better chill that kid the fuck or else I’ll do it in spectacular fashion. One dust-up happens. I was beyond it. But this kid wants to pick scabs, I guess, so stay tuned, I might have to run this kid into the back of his net in a few weeks, lmfao. - +1 y
@spartan55 Jesus, that turned into a long story, my bad😂😂😂

@WhiteSteve
Oh man, I loved the story! That guy just sounds like a red ass emboldened by all his gear. Oddly enough, I had a run in with a near clone of that guy. He was always starting shit but never wanted to settle up right, just used stickwork on guys in front. I'm not talking little poke checks, or shove cross checks. This clown was giving out two hand slashes and cross checks with impunity (of course he never got a penalty). He gave me a real get lower back massage of about three cross checks and I just turned and started swinging. I was too close though and we ended up in a big dog pile with double roughing minors (lame right?) It all happened so fast I didn't even have time to get my gloves off. 😁🏒 - +1 y
@spartan55 lmao, I guess there’s gotta be one in every league. And duly noted, if I find myself in that situation I’ll know to take a step forward before spinning around. It’s 5 minutes, the gate, plus an extra game in this league, so I want to get my money’s worth😂

@WhiteSteve
It seems like beer leagues always add a one game suspension for fighting, bummer. Definitely get your money's worth!

A few. Most of them were self defense or protecting a friend who got attacked.
One was where I called bully a coward cause when they would bully someone, they would be with two. Two ganging up one one guy and doing it in an ambush. I told him this when we were just sitting on a bench and he slapped the back of my head to get a reaction.
At first he laughed it off but whenever the bullying happened I'd look at him like 'See?' eventually got to him.
So he accepted the challenge of a 1v1 for all to see just us.
I humbled him that day, I just held him down and told him that I don't hate him and that he's actually a great person but whenever he bullies, everyone looks down on him even when we don't say it. He let it go.00 Reply

This kid jumped me and I got him in a wrestling hold and he begged me to let him up. I let him up and he sucker punched me. I punched him back a few times and he gave up.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yMany, but only under 18. I don’t want to go to jail and once everyone got older, they use guns. I remember the day I was done with fighting I think I was just 15 and I showed up to a planned brawl but everyone had a gun. I don’t want to die or kill, so I left. Ever since everyone just showed up with guns to those things. At that point I only fist fight when I absolutely have to, to defend.

+1 yThree, but one was all the way back in school, so I don't count it.
That leaves two. One to protect a girl from a physical assault/rape, and another when the same asshole attacked me at a gas station after being released from jail.00 Reply

fairly common growing up and then in military.
it’s not big and it’s not clever, it sort of just happens.00 Reply919 opinions shared on Other topic. If you count when I played hockey, about 20. 2 true Street/Bar fights 1-1 and several group scuffles.

+1 yI've been in 5 fist fights my whole life. I try to deescalate the situation first. If that doesn't work and they throw the first punch then I'll fight. It could have been a lot more fights it I didn't get them to calm down
00 Reply More than I can count, I still spar to this day when I'm around friends. Been in plenty of real fights too in my younger days, some of them ended up being the best of my friends later.
