I wouldn't have brought one in the first place & if they did try to hand it to me, I don't like the increased risk of zappage so that thing is getting closed & lowered & we're rushing to get indoors.

Isn’t that too late already if you heard thunder or you’re just figuring that there will be more strikes? I think if you are near each other it’s not going to be good for either of you if you get hit but I usually don’t have one just wear a hoodie

i would think umbrellas have a coating that makes them safe. maybe they are aluminum, a poor electric conductor?
