Depends on if I have an emotional attachment to the person I am lying to. If they are someone I truly care about, I cannot lie to them. I feel too guilty and it shows. However, if it is an inmate at the jail I work at, I have no problem telling whatever story I need to keep the peace.

For example, we had a drunk come into booking and he did not want to go to a holding cell because he was pleading his innocence. I pointed at a different holding cell and told him that cell was for those who are innocent and here by mistake. He went happily to that cell and we had no issues out of him.

My case is complicated. If something is my fault then I can't lie about it so I'll say the truth. But in cases that I have to lie for example, my safety or for someone else then I will lie and people usually believe it. Probably because I'm good at composing my face and voice when it counts lol.

I’m a terrible liar! I learned a long time ago, that telling the truth is always the best thing to do. That way you never have to remember what you told someone. Remembering what really happened is always easier than trying to remember what bullshit you made-up for which person!
