Why do some people in New York do weird things on the subway?

Some of these people are crazy or on drugs. The worst thing I ever personally saw on the subway in New York was a homeless man clipping his toenails using his hands. He also smelled of urine. As you can imagine, no one was within ten feet of him.

Well, the perosn in the top picture looks like he's going to a Halloween party or maybe was hired by someone to act as an actor somewhere. The second picture can be that the man is reading what is directly above him on a sign, may be a map of the subway or an advertisement. That, or he can be having backprobelms and is supporting himself before his next stop. The last is just a dude with bad taste in clothes on his phone. New Yorkers are not weird in general they are like everyone else. If you saw what I have seen on a London subway (the Tube) you'd be even more surprised. I saw a woman with stiff braids sticking out of an otherwise bald head, some really emo looking people in Camdentown as well. PS. I am a NY'er.

Some do it for attention. Some do it because they are on drugs. And some think it's normal. I like seeing some entertainment on the subway. Except when I hear the words "It's Showtime".

I found when I lived in New York City many years ago. There was a guy masturbating in the men's toilet. I thought that was off the wall and very strange. He also wore a trench coat. Nothing's weird in New York City. It is a city of weird people. I wouldn't be surprised if they had sex public transportation.

I didn't take these pictures myself but found them on a search engine. I live in a small town and this behavior is kinda rare. I remember the first time I came to NY to visit a friend. He suggested the subway and it was weird for me so I wanted to share what I saw there. That's it.
