Why do people text and drive or just be on their phones in general? Don't they know that they're driving a 1 ton vehicle or more?

I work at a local college and see groups of kids walking between classes. everyone has their nose buried in their cell phones and nobody is talking to each other. I have seen people run red lights while screwing on their phones. I woman I worked with ran over some stupid woman who walked in front of her car because she was texting and walking. I use my phone maybe once or twice a day.

A lot of people feel pressure to respond quickly, especially if it is an expectation of their friends. It’s very dangerous.

I’ll stop my bike and refuse to move until their attention is back and they go first. They are often so embarrassed it’s an arm display back and forth. I always make them go first.
