Why would someone do this?

This was covered on the news: Someone in my state adopted a dog and that dog ended up being hung and stabbed. It was not even two weeks after the dog was adopted. Why would someone do this instead of just returning the dog?

There's horrible people in the world. The depressing thing is that when something like this happens, it's news. When thousands of other puppies get happily adopted, it's not news. We publicize things that shouldn't be done, whereas good deeds appear as puff pieces. So when you see horrible things in the news, remember that it's the news, so despite being horrible, it doesn't happen often. Luckily.

I love animals especially dogs and hearing about this makes me angry and sad. Did they get the people that did this?
