Could you still see the good in people you dislike?

For instance i may dislike quite a few of a person’s political beliefs but i could still see merit in how they empathize with people.

one great historical example i always loved was when John Adams despite not liking Thomas Jefferson for a time still thought he should be the one to pen the Declaration of Independence because he knew he was so much better at writing than he was.

So csn you recognize the value in people you dislike?

No i dont care what value they may have, if i dislike them then I dislike them

It depends some people have no redeeming qualities at all while others do

I mean I just don’t JUST dislike people. If there is someone I dislike, then they have given me MORE than a good reason to dislike them, and if that’s the case… Well, honestly I don’t really care about the good in them! Now, if it is someone with whom I merely disagree politically, I count easily work with them, discuss the issues we disagree on ( as long as they keep it on the issues, and leave the ad hominem attacks out of it) because I don’t dislike people strictly because we have different political views or beliefs! It was once said of political differences… “we simply believe THEY are wrong, whereas they genuinely believe WE are evil!” That philosophy has poisoned all debate on ANY political or social issue these days! Nobody even discusses issues civilly anymore, yet you expect people to actually work together for a greater good?

I try to see the good in everyone. It's harder with some than it is with other's, but I can usually find at least one good thing in everyone. Question is, does it outweigh the bad?

No, not always. I know they say, "There's good in everyone..." but NO, that is not always the case. Some people are genuinely bad or corrupt individuals and there is no justifying their behavior or actions.

But for the most part, if I have to deal with someone I don't like, especially at work, I just avoid them as much as possible, or find out what their redeeming traits are and use them to my advantage. For example, if someone is a gossip or messy, befriend them to get news or information they get from others.

It's just knowing how to either avoid said people, or use them to your advantage. That's (unfortunately) how life typically works.

It's just easier to see the positives in them when you're comparing too people you don't like to each other lol.
