Or did he become wealthy later on?
His story keeps changing. We're at version 3 or 4 now.
It used to be millionaire to billionaire with the family running apartheid mines.
Then legitimate business venture with a few dozen million of unexplained capital.
That is now changed to engineer and model.
He himself initially bought the software he needed and currently negotiated it so he got it for free.
Elon Musk himself describes it as a rags to riches. 2000$ and 26 000$ from him and his brother respectively.
That story is of course a little odd. Mostly in that Elon Musk started the whole thing up. Did some programming but not enough for a launch or anything - barely a proof of concept. And with barely a proof of concept were given full access and use of a several hundred million dollar patented technology for absolutely free. Which one imagine came with them also paying the salaries of the new staff that got the program running to an actual functioning state as Elon himself hung up his programming coat forever. It was later sold for 300 or so million out of which Elon got about 30. Reinvested in other companies like PayPal and Tesla and got progressively more rich.
It is interesting to note that his story has changed. A lot. And often. It most certainly did not include him and his brother sharing a single computer to program on and showering in a public facility to save money at the start. Indeed evem the current one is undecided on specifics like if they both programmed or if it was just Elon doing it. It is fairly new.
Whether Elon Musk is changing it because he can or has just grown more at ease with sharing that he earned his wealth without a big headstart and isn't old money? Who knows.
But 10-30 million to the amount he has today is impressive all the same regardless. I personally am more inclined to believe the stories before he had a PR meltdown but will happily admit I have no clue or proof. I do believe that in another 10 years there will only be one story left.00 Reply

+1 yBorn into wealth. His parents own an apartheid era emerald mine, and his father gave him capital to start his first companies.
In addition, he doesn't even make good things himself. In his first company, the team of software engineers he and his brother hired had to scrap Musk's entire code and rebuild from scratch. And he would often fistfight his brother in the office and refused to shower.
Elon Musk is as self-made as Trump is a good businessman.20 Reply
+1 yI think his family was already pretty comfortable in life when it comes to finances but he built what he has nowadays.

Hahaha see, I know they are trannies just from their faces, and sometimes their bodies ro reassure. But then if you look deeper you see shit like their daughters or exes are trannies. Yes, their daughter is an admitted tranny. Just as Trangelina jolie's son is a tranny. They admit it sometimes, but the truth is most of them are undisclosed crossdressers.

But it applies to all of them. All are illuminati trannies.

Musk was born in South Africa, and his family was wealthy in local terms, but he was recognized as being a gifted thinker early on, and the main thing his family wealth provided him was the ability to go to college in Canada (he inherited Canadian citizenship through his Canadian mother), which led to attending the University of Pennsylvania.
By this time, he was estranged from his father, whom he had chosen to live with following his parent's divorce. He was intending to attend Stanford to pursue a Masters degree, but decided to go into business instead, and confounded his first company, Zip2, with his brother. He sold Zip2 to Compaq for over $300M, and then founded X. com which merged with a competitor to become PayPal. PayPal was sold to eBay 2 years later for $1.5B.
This is when SpaceX was founded (Elon has no formal aerospace training or education). Tesla was acquired - he didn't found the company - and he founded SolarCity (now Tesla Energy) and then Starlink.
There was a period where both SpaceX and Tesla were both out of money at the same time, and Elon had enough personal money to save one for sure but the other would go bankrupt, but if he split the money, it was less than a 50% chance that either would survive. He split it anyway and worked 100 hours a week solving problems and saved both companies. He is currently the wealthiest person in the world.00 ReplyFrom the information I gathered, it seems like he had a relatively upperclass middle-class upbringing, but nothing actually crazy wealthy.. He says he was $100k+ in debt in college.. So, Elon is a self-made billionaire it seems..
