This just reminded me of a game I once played. It's a racing game where your character would receive "cool exp" or "hot exp" depending on your driving style.
If you play recklessly you'd get hot points, if you drove precisely or perfectly you'd get cool points. Your pc would change their idle animation, some effects around the car, etc.

I wanted to guess this because I feel like I heard it in some science class and maybe it has something to do with no oxygen or how ice and salt/ dry ice burns etc. but I just stuck with my gut and say ice- even if it were melting 🤔
