Did anyone else notice that Russian has a lot of English loanwords?

When I hear Russian spoken, quite often I'll hear words that I can recognize. When comparing how many words I can recognize when the language is spoken, I would say it's somewhere between Spanish and German. I can't recognize anywhere near as many words when I hear say Polish or Greek spoken.

But then again, maybe Russian just has a lot of borrowed vocabulary. For people who speak other prominent European languages (like French of German), can you recognize a lot of words from your language when Russian is spoken?
