Why are more men than women found in the spectrum?

This tends to be found more in men than in women. Why?

With women, it seems like most of us are in the middle range and very few go towards the extreme polars. With men, there are more found in the extreme polars.

Because when the guidelines for diagnosing autism was only based on boys and not girls. Boys and girls exhibit autism differently.

How ever it is true that fathers pass on more genetic mutations.

I’m not a doctor. But I’m a believer in environmental toxins playing a big trigger point in genetics/ those predisposed to being on the spectrum. Chemicals might effect males more than females.

I came across a lot of interesting research about autism and chemicals when trying to find out what was causing my own serious allergic reactions.

What is allowed to be put in simple popular laundry detergent, knowing the serious exposure causes is terrifying. They know Gain (for instance) causes liver and pancreatic cancer, but it’s still on the market. That is just one product.

It's genetic. You are correct that men are more skewed to the extremes. Men have slightly higher IQs on average, but there are more really dumb men than women, and more really smart men than women.

That's why you usually see men in the most demanding and high power positions in society, because the smartest people naturally rise to the top.

It's also why there are only 4 women on the list of the 30 smartest people alive in the world today.

I don't know the why, but multiple studies going back to the 1930s show that indeed women tend to have far fewer people at either end of the curve, while there are more men who are either very smart or very, ahem, limited. This means that most geniuses are men, but also most morons are men.

None of the studies had any good answers to why this is, but it certainly would be interesting to find out.

yeah that's been a mystery I've always wonder too. I'm guessing it has to be with men only have one X chromosome that's affected while a woman have to have both XX affected. I don't know.

Because you have XX and we have XY. The Y has only 10% of the genes of the X so you have far more error-correcting code. If you have a problem on one X your other X has a very good chance of compensating. If we have that same defecting gene, we only have a 10% chance of having a corrector.

I'm including it all. There are more men than women that have autism, mental retardation and/or super elevated IQ levels (genius level). I've always wonder what's the reason to that discrepancy on the curve.

There are levels of autism, there is the low functioning (that one has mental challenges to it and yes sometimes a type of retardation comes along with it) and the high functioning ones that can function in the workplace, have friends but might be a bit awkward in communicating with others.
