Boy, 9, drowns taking shower in Texas.


Texas police are investigating the death of a nine-year-old boy who drowned while taking a shower at a home in Houston.

First responders were called after the youngster was found unresponsive in a bathtub by his grandfather, reported local news outlet KSN. Authorities told the outlet that the boy was seemingly taking a shower at the time of the incident in the southwest area of the city.

When police arrived at the scene, they reportedly found the grandfather performing CPR on the boy. The boy was then rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital.

Officials told KSN that despite efforts to save him the boy was pronounced dead a short time later. No additional details have been released and the death remains under investigation.

He either had the tub plugged up where the water couldn't escape, slipped then hit his head then drowned. That's my only explanation, unless the kid intentionally had his nose under the shower head it just sounds pretty suspicious to me. I don't know how you drown standing up if none of those where the case.

It is a leading cause of death for that age group, in the USA.

Americans are fucking stupid in having kids shower in bathtubs, instead of installing a shower tray. The result is these kids having little grip on a smooth and wet bathtub surface. Usually knocking themselves out and drowning as a result.

Probably what happened in this case too, though the lack of supervision by the grandfather is an additional concern

If the drain was blocks and a medical emergency caused him to become unconscious. You can drown in a couple inches of water if face down.

I don’t know but that investigation should not end until they find out what really happened. Drowning in a shower doesn’t make sense to me
