Is it ok to not believe in words anymore?

It got to the point that I've turned down someone that said ''I want kids one day''.

This was my reply: ''That's what they all say, famous catchphrase to get a girlfriend''.

There is a chance it could've been indeed a real serious man but my mind has flashbacks every single time I heard those words (same thing if I heard the words ''I promise'') or similar phrases. Is it ok to not believe in a single word anymore?

I don't even know who is for real anymore so I'm just assuming it's a liar if I hear those words early on.

I'd suggest judging someone by their past actions to try to figure out what kind of person they are and if you are likely to be compatible or not.

I'll try. I don't know if I might have jumped to conclusion but it's just that I've been told that by liars too, by the very men that like putting girls in the ''forever dating'' zone and never give her any kids, never follow through as promised.

Also, don't have sex for a few months (3 to 6). Wait until you both have a strong emotional connection/bond. The people that want to use someone for sex usually want it very early on.

I got terrible flashbacks that's why. When he said that, it reminded me of what two past ex bfs said and all their lovebombing strategy. There are liars out there that say whatever they need us to hear to get in our pants and waste our time and then all of the sudden they don't follow through what they promised.

No. I was upset when I said it. I get flashbacks of when I got lied to by others. If you get lied to, there is a point you don't know who is for real anymore.

I agree with you. But it doesn't mean you remove your frustration on someone else. And not even apologise. That's selfish and toxic cause the world doesn't revolve around you. Other people have their own lives too

How can I tell a serious man from a lovebomber that uses those exact phrases? They are wolves in disguise of sheeps. They used the ''I want kids one day'' to get a girlfriend and waste her time, just to get in her pants but then suddenly they either back up what they promised or won't follow through.

I don't see some saying they want kids in the future as love bombing, I just think they're telling you so that if you don't wants kids you can move on and not waste their time.

Two past ex bfs did that. They lied about a future, about wanting kids. Several men have been doing this strategy to get a girlfriend. This is what is alarming. Because of them, now it's hard to tell who is for real vs who is just a boyfriend by name.
